GM S/C 2.5" Pulley Experiences - Boost Forum

Since my qwikchange incident (look down a page or so for that), I've put on a new hub with the 2.5" pulley. When I first threw it on, I was only hitting 8psi because the old serp. belt I had was slipping. A new Gatorback #4050722 belt later, and now I'm back up to 10psi.......exactly what I was at with the 2.6" pulley!!!
This leads me to the question, who else has the 2.5" pulley? I know scooby has/had it. Haven't seen from him in a while on here. Anybody else have any experiences with it since the last time this issue was brought up? I'm mainly looking for what kind of boost pressure you are experiencing.
Since my 2.5" pulley is pushing the same exact amount of boost my 2.6" pulley was, this makes me wonder if the bypass valve is not holding all of the pressure. I know there's an adjuster screw on it that GM specifically says not to touch but I'm curious if that will yield any results.
Any thoughts?

i thought i read somewhere that with roots type blowers they have a draw back when it comes to smaller pullies. And that is, when they get spinning to fast, instead of all the air being forced into the engine, instead it is kept in the blower and follows the blades around and around. Im not 100% sure on this, but it might be that the charger has a mechanical limitation to it. Come to think of it, i dont think ive ever seen anyone run more than 10 PSI on the GM charger. BUt it might also have some kind of bypass limitor too that wont let it get past 10 PSI for safety of the charger. Maybe taking the blower to a shop and having them rebuild it would get more PSI. Other than that, i dont know.

I know you can get the S/C ported or something (some guy here was telling me he got his M90 done and so he figured i could get my M45 s/c done too) so that might do something... also i don't know how much you want to play with the s/c but that by pass valve might be holding you back like you said....
I have to ask though... how hard does it pull now with 10psi???
wait doesnt your sc lose efficiency after 8 psi? because of the heat?

Like I said, I was pulling 10psi with the 2.6" pulley so the car feels the same to me now as it did then.

Nope! Why? Because I'm injecting 1000cc of alcohol/water into my supercharger constantly when I'm on the throttle. After doing a full 1/4 mile run with the alcohol active, I've jumped out of the car and felt the s/c. Ice cold

yea i know... but how does it pull with 10psi in general...
Mr. Pute I remember that
Mike Jazz was running custom pullies getting 12psi. Why not ask him.
Another thing, Mr. Pute, can you post a pic of the location of your water/alcohol injection nozzle? where do you put it?

Thanks Eliot, I will definitely check him out. My alcohol nozzle isn't actually a nozzle. It's a fuel injector. I have the injector boss mounted on the underside of the PCV oil vent spacer that comes before the throttle body. I'll see if I can get a picture of it later today.

sweet, I wasn't aware ppl were getting 10 psi on those.
Most people haven't tried because of the heat soak. Alcohol allows me to get past that problem.

Alcohol gets me past my problems too!
Stop jacking my thread beotch!
From what I'm hearing, I might be at the point where the supercharger housing is actually starving itself. Porting (a lot) and polishing the housing should up the boost a little.
Has anybody seen over 10psi with their gm s/c? If so, how?

so mr pute your spraying the alcohol thru the throttle body not after??
whats up mr pute, i had the 2.5" i didnt notice much difference at all from the 2.5 to 2.6 boost wise, i rant a 35 shot on it once, man that thinkg pulled hard, but a few monts later when it got hot out i forgot to swap pullies and i popped my motor. I will porally be on here a lot less now, i just traded in my z24 for an 05 SRT-4, picked it up on tuesday. But feel free to E-mail me if ya have any questions.

^ make sure u get the recalls done asap
and some have recalls on the engines.
i heard thee is no way to intercool the roots type blowers that sucks
i have the rsm kit for the 2.2 ohv and after a run or two i lose all of my power. so i am gonna build an intercooler kit from another carsee if that solves the problem i am also going to put an oil cooler in and wrap my headers temporaliy until i buy coated ones
hopefully the cool hood temps wwill help until the intercooler is built
oh and even tho the rsm kit is rated for 8 psi it regularly hits 10

Guys, please stop jacking my thread.
Is there anyone out there using the GM supercharger that has been able to achieve over 10psi??
ScoobyZ24, what kind of boost pressure were you seeing with the 2.6" and 2.5" pulleys?
Bluzr2, you've already contacted me outside of the thread. I'll email you back soon.
sinrocker, alcohol does just as good as an intercooler. No problems here.
illd9, check my registry for my AIM address and email.
I'll be posting an alcohol injection FAQ within the next couple of weeks. Please, let's stick to the topic at hand. Thank you.
