i was thinking of this today, whos running a turbo car with their o2 sensor in the manifold as apposed to the downpipe? any disadvantages to this?

Yeah, you don't want to do that, you would only get readings from one or two cylinders, in the down pipe you get readings from all the cylinders at least.

i was thinkig od mounting it right up at the collector itself somewhere.

thanks for the info

I read that the exhaust temperatures might be a little too hot for the sensor-- at least it is for the innovative wideband.

it doesn't matter what the dissadvantages are.. there are no ADVANTAGES. You have to make a custom downpipe anyway unless you buy a full kit.... you don't have to make a custom manifold

unless you had a turbo header... but with a regular log style manifold that still wouldn't work very well. but i don't see how the inlet temps would be higher before the turbo as opposed to after. think about how much heat the turbo generates.

actuakly the one big advantage i was thinking of was ont having to run a heated o2 in the downpipe. becaues if i could get this thing into the collector area of the log manifold then it would still get a hot enough signal to give a more or less accurate reading. im thinking something similar along the lines of what a stock manifold is using. but by the looks of things it wont really work to my advantage so ill just stick it on the downpipe

just run a wideband in the down pipe. it'll make things easier.

Never put a wideband in the downpipe.

also if the 02 sensor ever corroded and broke up it would distroy the turbo
