get this,
the other day i was riding home, and my car was making weard noises, buzing i guess is what i would call it, anyway i was on my home on liberty, and i went to pass some one ( my tac was at 3100, the car pulls good at that RPM, anyway my boost gauge went to 5 in./ vac. i went WTF?! and then notesed my bat. light was on.
i then limped it to a napa, and no sh-t, thay were closed. i spent the night out side in my car, and that morning i took off the idler pully and put a N\A belt on.
After taking the idler pully brackit off, i saw the problem. the bearing inside of the pully broke off, twisted on side of the housing, also the snap ring broke.
for giggles i looked up the dearing # at napa, it crossed. but agenst better judment i dident get it, rembering that the SC install kit came with a P\N break down.
next problem; i called a GM performance parts dealer, the P\N that i have isent on there network, so i called another dealer; thay in turn called GM performance help desk. there only way of geting the pully was in a KIT...! i already payed $2300 for a KIT all i want is a idler pully!.... so tonight its off to napa to get a bearing to try to replace just that.
also i ordered the belt.. the 10 ply gatter back belt that has the part# that the belt my kit came with. just cut it in half. its what GM does and thay want $200 for it.
oh, with the SC injecters and flashed ecm, with a LD-9 intake, its still faster than a lightly moded ECO! HA, ( runs very rich though.)

GMPartsDirect part descriptions are horrible, I wouldn't go by them
if that's the part number, then that's the part
that is the idler pulley, i got the part# from my s/c manual. and there isnt a tensioner in the kit.

got a picture?
maybe it wasnt put on tight? and worked it's way loose and got crooked a little sideways and all hell brooke loose?
the part # i gave you was for the "idler Bracket assembly" the pic of it is on page 9 of my supercharger manual. it mounts to the top 2 bolts that hold on the a/c compressor.

^ look , TENSIONER.
the pn i have from my kit is for a idler pully, anyway its back together, the spring clip retanior that holds the bearing in welded its self the the housing. then got eaten away by a bearing sping in the housing. i tood the bearing out, and crossed it to a napa bearing #. then wealded it in. not a good fix. but it will work till i can find a new pully,
oh that gatter back belt # 4100729 works,,, just cut it in half with a shears.

bud all that is is a general description for the part. it is not an exact description. More or less the idler pulley works in conjunction with the tensioner, that is why it has that description, it is NOT the tensoner. going by the description on that website would be like drinking a cup full of yellow liquid without knowing what it is , could be apple juice could be pee, ya dont know unless you saw what went into it. the part# i gave was for the idler pulley assy i might have a different s/c manual than you the part# could have changed. the part# i gave is the idler pulley assembly that mounts right to the a/c compressor, if that is what you need that is. i dont have a pic, but i can give u a good description, it has a small pulley on the end, has 2 bolt holes wehre it bolts to the top 2 bolts on the a/c compressor, and it has a little square bracket with a release tab in the middle of it. that little bracket is where you mount the evap purge solenoid. it comes as a whole piece you cant just get the pulley itself. oh and its black also.
