I'm all new to this,

I went over the Turbo and S/C Sticky and I'm convinced that I want to go TURBO. But I have a 2000 2.2 AUTO Cavalier. Is it even worth it since it's auto? If so what mods will I have to do to the tranny for it to last? Should I change my engine to 2.4 or the ECOTEC 2.4 or can I still get good power out of my lil 2.2 with a turbo. What is the max I can put into the engine with no internals mods? anyone who has comments on what I should do please let me know. I have about 5000 to spend and I want the most power out of my car as I can get for that price.
