SAFCII>PIN?
Tuesday, May 03, 2005 6:08 PM
im having my SAFC-2 tuned professionally on a dyno then road test. they said they needed a pin from my ECU to see where to tap into. now my question is wtf is a pin? i also came across a post that actually shifted and someone else were talkin about sayin they taped into pin 10 or osmetin and bought that from the dealer. can i do that or do i have one in my car now they can use. What would be easier and if i have to get one from the dealer how much can i get one for about. its for a 99 Z24 by the way.

The "pin" is a wire coming out of the ECU. On the 2k+ (and some 99's), this wire doesn't exist on the connector, but the pin is still there and is still a valid tach signal. The wire is on connector 2, pin 10. If you look in the fuse box under the hood, and you have a relay called "Tach", you can get the tach signal from there.

Pins are $5 for 2, which is a massive rip off.

Just wondering, I have my RPM signal hooked into #19 which is the IC timing control...Is this right? Cause my car is a 2002, and you guys had to install a pin to get your signal...BTW this is on the BLACK connector. I haven't checked if this is gunna work since I still need to get a front 02 sensor before I start my car.

I don't think you're going to have much luck with that, I believe that is data in to the PCM, Hypsy tried it on his Eco and it didn't give him very good results...

So for the tach signal, you put it in the BLUE connector PIN #10 right...

That's strange, cause on my #2 connector(BLACK) the #10 PIN is the 1-2 Shift Silenoid and on the BLUE connector PINS #8-10 are unused. Any ideas?

02Turbo-

I'm really not sure with the 2.2's, maybe you can get it right off the coil pack

5SPD Z-
Print out the diagram on the NY-Jbodies website. That has all the information for the connections you'll need on it. For the tach signal I used Connector 2 Pin 10, I didn't have a pin to put in there, so I just shoved the wire in the hole through the rubber stopper thats in the hole, its stayed in there pretty well so far.
