Piston Recommendation
Wednesday, April 20, 2005 7:25 AM
ok, my LD9 is torn apart, all we have to do now is get pistons. I was going to go with a .020 over bore with Wiseco, part K584M905.

Heres my question. Has anyone ordered these from anyone, and what is the best place to order them. I need them asap. I have found a few sites that offer them for $459 + shipping and some from $479+.

I guess the main question is, where do you guys recommend getting them from in a timely manner.

Thanks,

I'd order them from Karo, can't find a more reputable company to order pistons from, and you won't find a cheaper price since he has the best deal going with Wiesco.

His website said $479 for the set. I just got off the phone from Import Performance Parts. They drop ship directly from Wiseco and they want $459 + $10 for the drop ship. So thats $469 for the entire set. + (moly coated skirts, rings, wrist pins and circlips)

Thats the best deal i can find so far for the .020 over set.

any other ideas.

I would pay the extra 10 bucks to order from a reputable source. When you're spending 400+, whats an extra 10?

Just order through the site.

Actually I just noticed that he has FREE shipping on everything...thats perfect....i would otherwise have to pay actual shipping which I can almost guarantee would be over 10 bucks. So I will order from Karo.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.

Not really... not going to come out here and lie about anything. For some reason when Wiseco raised prices at the start of 2005 price change has NOT effected Summit Racing yet... not sure why but it has not . . .

If you wish to order it from Summit by all means go for it... you will probably save some money on it... might weight a little longer for it tho... so who knows.. I do believe I have a few sets of these in stock tho.....

Either way figured id clear some things up . . .

Raw aluminum prices went up significantly.

Sorry I did not see this post again until today.

I have none out back (had one but its sold to someone else) but I just talked to my guy @ Wiseco and he says they shipped me more out this week so early next week I will have more of these pistons in stock LD9 9:1 .020 overbore.

I'm not trying to take your business away Karo, but Summit's website still say's 392.69 before shipping. I didn't say buy from them, or don't buy from you, just stating that they had them and approximately at what cost.

I guess all I really was trying to say is that they had my Ecotec pistons for around 415 shipped, and I received mine in less than two weeks. If time wasn't an issue and cost was, I would recommend Summit.

However, I did notice that they have a tentitave ship date of 5/3/2005 (if your order was placed today) so if you need them soon, Karo can most likely get them to you faster.

I went with Karo, and I'm glad I did.

Hats off to him and all the trouble I put him through!

get your block sonic tested before you order the pistons to make sure you have enough room.

i've seen factory blocks measure anywhere from .115 - .244.

I know your not that is why I just came out and said what I had to say. Also the reason why they wont have any in stock until may 2nd is because Wiseco is holding orders for summit due to summit whoring out the product . . . so from what I was told they have until May 1st to fix the prices and rasie them.....

So either way no worries... if people wish to buy from summit by all means go for it... I even send peopel to summit on most stuff that I cant get and what not . . .
