Hey guys, I have a question for those who are good with performance.... (And really know what they are talking about)
I have a spare 2.2 Non-eco engine in my basement and I am planning a rebuild on it. Want to go boost on it but I also want to beef up ALL the internals. I would like some advice on what would be the best process for my final outcome. I know I will be porting and polishing the head, I figure new rods, pistons, and of course a new manifold will be required for the turbo.
Anyone one have some helpful links to get me started on all this.
So far I have the head off the block, the headers off, pretty much everything. I still need to clean the messy thing up and start removing internals but I don't want to start removing anything until I know what I am replacing.
Also, Would a new cam be something I should consider? Thanks in advance for the help guys.
I guess you mean the 2200 since you have a 2001.
I believe theres four things you should always replace when you do a rebuild, and its just to be sure you don't have any problems once you've got it built up;
cam, cam bearings, timing set, and oil pump.
those are in addition to whatever you want to 'build it up' with.
(theres way more then just that, though)

Take a look at my profile to get an idea
Dude, with that list of parts do you have an estimate of about what kind of hourse power you might have in the end? or a target HP? How well did that port and polish that you currently have help you out? Any idea? Looks like you are well on your way to building a real beast!
2.2L's are ~120hp at the crank...most manufacturers of engine components have Dyno results posted on their site(s)...also remember that most modifications will increase your HP geometrical instead of summation...so just add the numbers together and that's what the base amount of HP you'll probably end up with...if they don't have results for your particular application, find some results for a vehicle with a similarly sized engine with the same number of cyl's.
Check my profile for basic bottom end build
and another great profile to look at would be Adler's he has the best built 2200 for boost that I have ever sceen
also you can just call it an OHV, you shouldn't need a new manifold, theres only one header/exhaust manifold, and a nice turbo cam would help alot
