? About installing Wideband
Saturday, March 12, 2005 7:12 PM
Ok I just started to try to finish up my car to get her on the road. I was about to install my lm1 wideband kit when I paused, should I weld in the bung right before the cat or use the hole where the pre cat o2 sensor is and just wire the output wire of the lm1 to the signal wire going to the ecu. Another ? is my damn return line comming out of the fpr is leaking is there a rubber o ring or a plastice o ring that sits in the whole, the in line has a little plastic type washer but the isnt any type of anything on the return just the tube going into the fpr itslef. Let me know on both so I can get my baby up n running. Thanks again you guys have been most helpful.

You want the sensor farther up, near the primary O2 sensor.

The primary o2 is 2 wires and on the cylinder all the way to the right if looking at the motor from the front of the car. Meaning the header tube about 4 inches away from the head. Let me know about the gasket too. Thanks shifted youve helped me come along way.

AEM wanted the sensor about farther away on a turbo car , almost right in front of the cat

sending the wideband output wont work unless the wideband has a narrowband output, as far as i know the only one that Ive herd works like this is the plx wideband without any other mods, some of the other wideband units will work but some circuitry needs to be made so that the ecu doesn't wig out, as far as where to put it you should weld the bung right after the stock o2 sensor spot, the heat shouldn't bother it sense s/c and turbo are different in that case if you where going turbo you would try to get it as far from the turbo as you can right before the cat, but this isn't your problem sense your supercharged

if you got any questions you know where to get me

Well I welded the sensor right before the cat (only spot I could drill a straight hole) the a/f is perfect without any adjustments with the safc. The base fp is 35 and the pressure with the hose off the fmu is 41. The bosst gauge only reads I think 4 psi. I need a higher psi pulley. Orange and Shifted I didnt adjust anything on the afc for fuel at all, could it be because maybe the ecu is reflashed? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks again both of you.

Could it be maybe the ecu has been reflashed? My base pressure is 35 psi, and with the hose off the fmu 41. My boost gauge only read I think 4 psi. Looks like I need a higher psi pulley. Let me know what you guys think about everything. Thanks again both of you.!!!!!

The Innovate LM1 also has outputs for this. You can feed 2 separate signals from the LM1 to 2 different ecu's or other sources. I have one feeding my stock ecu to keep it happy and another feeding my EFI controller. You do have to buy the $8 analog output cord which is nothing but a 1/8" male stereo audio plug.

As far as where to mount the o2 sensor, I've been wondering about this question myself. On the one hand, the o2 sensor is heat sensitive in that according to some documentation, the bosch sensor I'm using is only designed for 1300 degree operation. 75+ mph highway driving can generate those temperatures easily, let alone hard pulls down the track. So mounting the sensor farther away may increase the life expectancy of the sensor to some degree. I can't see it harming the o2 readings, so perhaps that is why AEM wants the sensor mounted further away.
