More Exciting E-Manage News!!!!

For those who don't know, the E-Manage Gold edition includes built in support for real-time automatic wideband O2 sensor tuning! There's also a bunch of other features I haven't really had the chance to look into yet.

I'll probably give this a shot tonight once I get home from work. If it works, I'll let everyone know.

SUCCESS!!!!!

It worked!!!!! OW OW!!!

Here's my proof:

As you can see in the upper left, the "A/F SENSOR(0-5V)" shows the e-manage will support a wideband O2 sensor that provides a linear output from 0-5 volts! You can now use this in the maps to tune according to A/F ratio without additional 3rd party software!!!

The latest version of the support tool for the blue e-manage is 1.13. As you can see in the version information, I'm now up to 1.24.

the latest version of the firmware for the blue e-manage is 1.39. As you can see in the version information, I'm now up to 1.42.

The acceleration map in the lower right corner I'm not sure what it does yet. I'll have to do more research.

As soon as I get my wideband installed later this week, I'll be messing with the e-manage trying to get it to work with the automatic A/F functions. We shall see......

So is there a pin on the harness for the blue box that you hook that right up to or what?

Re: Acceleration Map

I'm guessing this is much like the accerator pump on a carb. When there is a large change in throttle position with respect to time (ie: you stomp on the gas) then extra fuel is inserted for a period of time. Most EFI systems ramp down the acceleration enrichment over a period of about 1 second.

The TEC3 has this functionality. It also has the ability to trigger the acceleration enrichment based upon large MAP sensor reading changes (ie: your turbo spools hard which causes a quick change in the volume of airflow to the engine).

Have fun tuning it .... I know I did.

Here's more info regarding E-Manage Gold features:

Multi Switching System:

http://www.greddy.com/prod_multi_switching_sys.htm

E-manage MSS Recognition Harness #15900911
An adapter for recognizing the Multi Switching System turned on (0V).
It is mainly used for the ignition time compensation at the time of NOS use.
The connector for pressure sensors of e-manage and the drive harness of Multi Switching System are wired.
Simultaneous use with a pressure sensor becomes improper.
Simultaneous use with A/F meter input harness becomes improper.
Corresponds to v1.40+ of e-manage firmware.

E-manage Air/Fuel meter Input Harness #15900912
Its a harness for inputting the A/F meter signal into e-manage.
Simultaneous use with a pressure sensor becomes improper.
Simultaneous use with a Multi Switching System recognition adapter becomes improper.
Corresponds to v1.40+ of e-manage firmware.

From what I've been reading, there were absolutely NO hardware changes between the blue and gold versions of the E-Manage. Due to this, I'm going out on a limb but I think the wideband input will go through the greddy boost pressure sensor input. Using the descriptions above, I think this is correct.

can it automatically adjust your a/f per what you want it to be based off the wideband setting?

thatd be tits!

Hopefully, yes. I have yet to confirm that it actually works though.

Just need to get my damn wideband in.

I would def. want that then

how much am I looking at?

this would save so much dyno tuning $$ set it at like a 14.2 a/f and be happy, or well tune to a nice number and go from there

14.2 = way too lean for boost.

Pretty nifty stuff... we were playing around with it a few weeks ago.

Low 13's for A/F is still pretty lean for a boosted application. I've seen built motors melt valves and pistons at 12.-12.8. I always shoot to have about 11.8-12.2. And this is what i do for a living.

Great find on the e-manage though. definately keep us updated.

Hmmmm.... Looks like I have some homework to do over the 3 day weekend. But i also still need to figure out the 100% duty cycle problem becasue I'm maxing out my 310 cc injectors at 4PSI and I know that's not right...

I am not boosted but I realize how awesome this would be.Just hook everything up set the desired a/f ratio and romp on the gas pedal.

LOL thanks Pute..... I haven't really put the nesecarry time into troubleshooting it yet either. I have to get one of my friends to drive so i can watch what's going on real time. Sure i can datalog it, but it's easier for me to just sit in the passanger seat and analyse what's going on real time....

I'll dump my current knoledge of the situation into that other post i made a week or so ago.

This is very cool stuff. By looking on the new version of the software at the setup, it definitely looks like you're right on the money for the wiring of the wideband. This means, then, that you'll have to run a 2-bar or 3-bar map sensor in place of your stock one, though, which could prove tricky for those that cannot get a gm s/c reflash on their pcms.

Am I right?

I think what it means is that instead of the Emanage reading the boost pressure to compensate fuel it will just see the AFR and compensate fuel to maintain that constant AFR. That's how it sounds to me anyway.

I can't wait to get the Emanage installed on my car and try this stuff out

Right on Mike Jefferson.

Once you get out of the bounds of the stock MAP sensor, you then clamp it with the boost clamp feature and then add fuel on top of what the ecu is already putting out by means of measuring the a/f ratio.

Der. I'm an idiot. Good call, guys.

I was playing around with the new software (not connected to the e-manage). The additional injection map changes to only allow throttle position on the y-axis. Makes sense. Now, where do you enter the "target" A/F ratio? Again, I just glanced at it for like 30 seconds.

This is all pretty cool stuff... So could I eliminate the FMU (of course the SAFC) and just get bigger injectors. And use the MSD to control retarding spark instead of using a standalone system?
