Turbo Downpipe and cut outs ???

Search yeilded no results. So what are you guys running for a downpipe? Anyone have a prefabbed one, or did you all go to an exhaust shop? How much did it cost and are any of you running a cut out?
I'll tell you what I'm looking for, a 3" down with a cut out to my stock exhaust. Know of anyone who sells em, or should I just get one made and pay through the A$$ at a performance shop? Thanks for reading and any input you might have.

Depends, you can get mechanical cutouts pretty cheap, or you could go all out and get an electric one. Most people have the downpipe done at a shop, usually doesn't cost much, just have to get it welded up. I don't think anybody makes prefabbed downpipes just because there are so many different combinations of exhaust systems out there, that its cheaper just to go to an exhaust shop and have it made.

Yeah, that's what I was I thinking. Just had to make sure. If I went cutout it would have to be an electric. How cool would that be though to have your stock exhaust with a 3" DP and cutout. YOU KNOW YOU WANT ONE! lol

That is one of the best product ideas next to the vaccume activated hood scoops/cowl hoods of the old muscle cars. But, is it proven? Do you have one? I know what the site says, but they're the ones trying to sell it . I now have a decision to make. hm....

Thinking the same thing. And whether it works as well as they say it does. The premise behind the idea is a sound one though. I just dont want to buy the first generation of these, in case they have some better models later on. And are reveiwed from a broader audience.

Wierd...

You see the dyno chart of that thing? While it had a higher peak hp number, the overall torque and horsepower curve was much lower than stock.

V-band = able to slide a pipe in and clamp it down right? Also, it's a nice looking peice, but I want to be able to pass emissions.

Yea, it dumps right past the flex pipe.

You are correct on the V-band. Putting on the downpipe with the V-band was WAAAAAAAY easier than just using a regular flange. It will save time when I have to pull the turbo crap off of the car. It looks better to.
Oh yea, my car will pass emissions with that set up

Cool, like I said before I'm trying to go from a 3" dp to a cut out then to the stock exhaust. Do they make v bands that would work? I know i can get a reducer. Also I will be running with a cat. Man, I hate it when I get hit with exhaust tickets. My srt was a pain with sound, I got pulled over all the time. Cops think it's just a hopped up regular neon so they think it's designed quiet. I try to tell them, it doesnt come stock w/ a muffler. They laugh and it intices them to look even more and dicover no cat as well. I got dinged for no cat and no mufflers. I owned up to the cat and got the mufflers dismissed after I proved to them it didnt' come with them . It was definately a cluster. Dont know if you wanted to know all that but that's why I'm trying to go legal and pass emissions. I'm just sick of the hoops.

Thread ressurection!

Has anyone found an electric exhaust cut-out yet?
I am looking for a 3" cut-out. I would LOVE to run stock exhaust with just a tip on my new cavalier that the turbo high output motor is going into.
I've got all my piping to make my 3" downpipe when the install comes around and the wastegate is just going to be dumped under the car.
That vacuum cut-out is cool and all........ but... I would want the back pressure at its absolute minimum while the turbo is getting spooled to reduce lag as much as possible. I think that thing was designed with SOUND in mind which would make the product make sense.

I would be happy with a cable operated cut-out also.. as long as I can close it from inside the car.

Im running a 3" electric cutout, don't remember what brand it is. but it works great and its awsome to go from quite to crazy loud at the push of a button
