I have an 03 ecotec motor with built internals and built head.(8.9:1) I have the hahn stage 2 kit ready to bolt on.(inline pump, accell 32lb. super16g, and begi fmu) But until I push the boost past 10 psi, I need to have a proper fuel system setup. The factory hahn fuel setup isn't going to cut it. I will use the inline pump. But now is it possible for me to keep the begi fmu with bigger injectors trying to run 18psi.(dyno a/f tuned) I can set my idle pressure down enough I'm sure for the big injectors.(500cc) But in your opinion, can the fmu by itself have a good a/f curve through the boost and rpm range. I'll appreciate your expertise.

might wanna get something to controll your RPM curve like a SAFC....i know the begi should be able to hang with the amount of fuel delivery...but at idle you might be really rich and i know the SAFC would help on the RPM range and at idle...would make your car run alot better then w/o it cuase you can control your fuel =) and thats a good thing especially running that much boost..
so the only thing a safc will do is controll the idle better?

You sure built that motor quick.
Good Luck. Gonna need something for timing if you think you're gonna go 18psi.
lol, not much to it other than rods, pistons, and slapping on the head. couple days work.(lots of hours) yeah i definetly am looking into some retard systems for the setup. i dont need another rod thru the block.

It does more then controll just the idle RPM...i beleive it controlls fuel in 500 RPM inquirments (sp) ...quote off a site about one ---Allows user to adjust air/fuel ratio through Hi and Lo Throttle maps. Other features like throttle percentage settings, rpm point settings, and deceleration air flow correction are adjustable through the setting menu.

i heard these things are awesome!!
Or you could get the emanage and use it for both fuel control and timeing retard. That's the route I'm going.

Safc will help with idle and fine tuning throughout the RPM range. in 200 or 500 increments depending on what SAFC u get. (1 or 2). I was reading up on Josh and how he ran 16 pounds daily and never had to retard timing. I agree with him, its all in how good of a tune u have. i will be running 13 psi when my engine is completed and don't plan on retarding timing. Mine will be seeing a lot of dyno hours to make sure there is no knock.

not necessarily
josh ran 16-18 psi and the occasional 21 at the track with no timing mods.
for 30,000+ miles
no one said the obvious yet but do a fuel pump swap, to the blazer pump or walboro

like 97blkz24 said, it's all in the tuning, dont dyno tune with a wide band and your asking for it, dont get jumpy and up the boost without tuning, only idiots do that and end up blowing crap up
but you seem to have it down good, dyno tuning and everything, good luck, cant wait for some videos

Josh this, Josh that. I'm so sick of hearing what the Great Josh Solomon has done.
Nothing against Josh, but everyone uses him as a shining example. Also everytime the story is told, its a different boost level.
His fuel setup was a joke, a complete rig job. Also not retarding the timing at 18+psi is just crazy.
My point is...Josh got LUCKY. Yes it worked, but I wouldn't use his setup as a guideline.
Do like Fatboy said above, and you'll be fine.
Good Luck.
and dont do like mcnulty and smack the rev limiter like an idiot and blow up your motor
btw you owe me half the feed line

Hold your horses McNulty, jeleous there a little??
Of our valued asset Joshy.
BTW, you are going to need a lot for 18 PSI man.
Phil what I want to know is, who hit the rev limiter and blew the motor up?? lmao
What a tool.

Phil you fat fuk. Lets MEET IN PERSON, instead of you always having buddies AIM me or do this shiit.
lol, suncavi didn't you just make a post about how fast the RPMs shot up on your eco at only 6psi??? Hit the revlimiter, and said you wondered what it'd be like at 10psi.
You can both go fck yourselves. Bunch of e-thugs!!!
McNulty, what the F is your problem with me??
I talk to Phil, but is that a crime, I was just asking him about the BLOWN motor DUE TO STUPIDITY.
Yes, I did post about the RPM's and stuff, but I had a Turbo on my car for how long??
Let me answer that for you. 2 weeks.
You had it for how long?? Well about 2-3 months as I know maybe longer.
So, YOU ARE AN E-THUG, for cursing on the NET.
And then stupid for hitting the rev where you should have known better.
Also, dumb and NEWB for AIMing people and TALKING SMACK<<<< A REAL
E-TERROR. Damn people are going to be so scared.
So grow up and stop talking all bad and why don't you come down here to FLORIDA so we can both have MY BOY with a TOW truck TOW YOUR BLOWN car accross the 1/4 mile once again, due to your DUMBNESS.

Suncavi, I never had a problem til your post.
You guys chose to START with ME.
I was merely trying to tell people that in my opinion, Josh's setup isn't a good guidline to follow. There is no jealousy involved, @!#$ I have all Josh's old stuff and more.
I'm done, sorry about all the post jacking Justin. Good Luck with your build.
I hate to post jack as well, but I have to say what josh done was amazing the car was a beast...I mean of course its josh this josh that...he's actually the first one that took the ecotec to its limits people have learned from him....the reason people always rely on his car is the fact that it done very well. There is no reason to bash people for being admired. I believe that you are not jealous of what josh did with his car but the admiration that he gets from taking his car to the limits.
Nope still no jealousy here. You guys sure love to drag stuff out.
Yes it is awesome that Josh showed us that with enough fuel the stock ecotec could handle so much. I still LOVE watching his old vids.
All I've BEEN TRYING to say is I don't believe it was done the correct way. I think plenty of people would agree that a half broke nitrous nozzle and no timing retards at 18-21psi, is a little unsafe.
Then when I TRY and recommend Justin some timing mods, I'm told they're not necessarily needed because Josh did it. That is where its MESSED UP, thats all.
Call me what you want. I'm here to enjoy others cars, learn, and post the latest on my own projects. You'll see.
Peace
^^^Didnt see your post up there, before I made mine.
THANK YOU!!! I'm glad someone understood what I was trying to say.
He's right, we're not here to fight but to better further all of our setups. Lets try that.
Ok like it was said I am not here to fight, but I do have a short temper.
I spoke to Phil about this little thing that is going on and I talked to him about me and Josh chilling at Florida J-bash and I am looking to doing it again, because Josh is cool in many ways, but like it was mentioned he set the bar high.
Now I am not going to say anything about him that I cannot tell him into his face cause I am not that kinda person.
I also feel like Turbo Ecotecs DO NOT get the respect the WE deserve because the bar is high.
Like the other day, Ipost I am going to be running like 11 psi and I got like 12 replys of people answering my question, but as long as it gets answered I am good I am not here for publicity, I never was.
Now, someone else posts about what kinda go damn exhaust pipe they put on their car and they get like 45.
People just have no interest in posting when they see 11 psi on Eco because they have seen 16 before. Now if I posted I am going to run 20 psi many would be on my NUTS calling me like Ecotec GOD or some stupid ISH like people here do(worship others).
His set up was not the best, but it worked.
Yes, his name does get mentioned when the topic arises of 15-20 psi on Eco very often, but until someone comes here and gets close to that number that is what it is going to keep happening.
His set up should NOT be used for a shining example of HOW TO RUN 15 PSI.
lol a freak motor can take a lot more than a regular JOE, so whoever want's to do it, it is on them.
McNulty, I never had problem with you, but I asked a simple question and when you start getting all offensive like you did you were just told I have a short fuse, I cannot help myself
I see your point about getting fed up, but I see Phils point too, where if you add enough fuel to a motor to keep it cool weather the proper way or Via Nitrous jet it could last up to........
So lets make this become a nice little informational post.
BTW, timing should be pulled at that high of a boost level. At least I think, but what do I know I am only running 6 psi on stock injectors.

alright, so would an emanage compare close to a dis 2. or could one just get adjustable cam gears? i want to go a good route but kinda still be at low cost which i know is hard if you want to do it right.
