brakes + boost question
Sunday, February 27, 2005 12:36 PM
I'm thinking about going turbo and don't know what to do about the brakes. Do I have to supply vacuum from some other source or just leave the vacuum line disconnected? Help is appreciated.

Rice rocket? Since when does just being loud make you qualify as a rocket?

How much power does a Chevy sticker add?

Umm.... lets think here.... when you are braking are you on the gas and making boost? Nooo..... that is why you have BOV to releace the pressure when the throttle plate closes and it sees vacuum again. Soo it souldent be a problem. If you are braking you should be under vacuum anyway.

I sometimes "brake boost" on the highway when trying to run those LS1s .

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!

this is an interesting idea, i never thought about this one, i'm betting that you could make a bypass of some sort that could be routed to the intake side of the turbo thus supplying a CONSTANT supply of vacuum for your accessories even under full boost.

The brake booster has a one way valve on it, so it stores enough vacuum for one full pedal push, so that's fine. The vacuum system for the A/C has a storage tank (on the 2nd Gen, it's a round ball under the driver's side fenderwell). This stores vacuum for use during WOT.
