has anyone just welded on the blow off valve to the charge pipe w/o the mounting flange? just kinda realized it now that i completely forgot about it and its all going down tomorrow, exhaust and charge pipes (FINALLY). i realize it couldn't be removed (never would be anyway), but i don't wanna hinder the performance of the valve either..

I dont think it will work properly with out the flange. That like welding the turbo to a big open space in a manifold, hoping it works like it should. That flange not only serves as a proper mount, but also a conduit for the air to release properly. Also if u just weld a bov to the pipe, u would probably damage ur bov from the high heat.

Wouldn't it be easier to weld the flange on than the BOV? I'm not understanding your predicament...

His predicament is that he doesn't HAVE the flange and everything is being done tomorrow - thereby he can't get a flange in time before everything is done. So he's asking if he can skip the flange thing and just weld the BOV straight to the charge pipe.
I wouldn't do it bro!

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
A BOV isn't the end all of life. If you don't got it, it won't kill ya. Just buy the flange and weld it on at a later date.
O noes!
