GreenFire wrote:mmm.... fuel cell right? What advantages does this have??
Well, less weight, a pump with the capacity of 800 horse power (never have to uprade again), a filter that can be cleaned, thus no more filters, don't have to get under the car to change the filter, no more dropping the tank, a fuel level guage because the stock one did not work.
Sure I lost my trunk, but who uses the trunk in a hot rod or a sports car? It makes a good place for a fuel cell, a battery and, or a nitrous bottle.
stevefire23, thanks. The cell is 10 gal.
all i have to say is GOD DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, a very good point that I forgot to mention. There is a ton of room under the car now. You could practically run the exhaust straight back. Just a minor bend around the spare tire well.
awesome work man, keep us updated .
Glad I could teach you all that James! j/k
Anyways, Jamie you definately are the man, and like i said before,
your car used to give me orgasms, now it gives me multiple orgasms!
Keep up the good work, that car is going to be one of the best when your done!
oh, and dont forget how funny it would be to pull into a gas station and pop the trunk to put gas in it. oh the looks on their faces.

Turbo/ Intercooled 2.4 Twin Cam Long list of mods in registry.
nope, it's all brand new. the cell was $200, the filter was $80, the pump was about $300
A quote from GP:
"Jamie will have problems with his return line. The return is supposed to be away from the feed. Return lines should ideally exit to a location within the tanks which is away from the feed fittings to prevent entrained air from re-entering your low pressure pumps. It is important that the fuel return be placed as far away from the pick up as possible to prevent foaming or bubbles at the inlet."

Adler, thanks for the heads up, but I all ready checked this out with several sources. They said that there should be no problem. Plus there is foam in the cell to help prevent air problems.
If there should be a problem I could put an additional line on the bulkhead inside the cell routing it away from the feed line.
Good looking out.
thats very sexy! i know a guy with an integra who did that but he also cut out the whole floor of the trunk ( like the spare wheel area) and replaced it with a carbon fiber panel he made. he said just from that he saved 30 pounds. lookd cool to. just thought i might tell you for some more weight reduction.

R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
Brandon, I haven't run it long. The car is still up on jack stands while I am doing some other modifications. I doubt it will throw a code but if it does I have a back up plan to trick the computer. I believe I can simulate what the old system did.
By the way I am still in scool in Carbondale, I complete my degree in May though. I have the car here with me. I am doing the work in the garage at the house.
A gateway trip would be cool, I might be able to get some more guys to go to. Keep me posted for when.
what does the braided line coming out of the top do?
i plan on getting a fuel cell very soon sooo do you have any tips on the install? wanna write a step-by-step?
sounds good keep me posted when you get it running, and im thinking sometime in the summer maybe do a midnight madness??

Dan, the line on the top of the cell is a vent. I am going to route the vent line to the evap canister to try and use the evap system to reduce gas fumes. One tip i have is try and get access to a vehicle lift. The floor sucks. Don't rush through something like this, because you will over look something. Make sure you route all lines away from the exhaust and moving parts.
Brandon, I will be back home this summer, but my home town is still only 2 hours away from gateway so I still could do something like that.
juicedz4, I am building a fire wall for the back. Just for caution and a little added safety.
Eddie, Thank you much man. You should definitely come out.
how is it that you will know the fuel level? does the cell have an electric sender of something.
Yeah it has a GM 0-90 ohm fuel level sensor for a 0-90 ohm autometer fuel level guage.
