where and what to use??? i don't want the needle valve thing thats too much work and i allready had it on and the setup was a PITA. What are you guys using as a restrictor on the feed lines??? please any help is appreciated

the hahn kit came with an adapter that has in i.d. of an 1/8" or less. works great. you can get them at any hardware store. to fit most engines too.

A lot of people including myself, use TWO braided lines connected by a -3an Union Fitting.
This setup works as a perfect restrictor, on cars with high oil pressure.
i had a fitting tapped into my earl's fitting that screws into the turbo. it basically shrinks the size of the hole considerably. look at the period key on your keyboard, and that's about the size of the hole. i posted pics of it about a year ago.

nope. it' been working the same for over a year. i found out about this from looking at the honda boards. i went to a local import shop and they had the fitting and tapped it in for me as well.

Don't know about as small as a keyboard period, but the -3an union fitting definately WORKS!!! Take two feed lines and join them with the union fitting, easy as that. Like he said its a much smaller orifice, resulting in lower pressure.
I too learned this from Honda guys, although my turbo kit came with that setup already.
No need to look any further, this is a guaranteed fix.
I drilled and tapped my -4AN fitting with a 1/4-20 thread, bought a set screw from Home Depot ($1.20 for two). Drilled a 1/16" hole in the set screw and threaded it in.
Here is a grainy picture. In this picture I just cut off a 1/4-20 bolt and slotted it to turn in with a screwdriver. Spend the extra $0.60 for the set screw:

an earl's fitting is just a brand name. they make AN fittings like aeromotive. the fitting in matt's pic looks almost identical to mine. we just used different method's to shrink the hole.

Here is a pic of my oil feed line. I added a valve and a gauge. It took all of 3 min to install and works great. Before I added this I had oil coming out of my exhaust. Now, everything is cool.

Ok guys what I did was the same set up as GM did.
I drilled into the oil filter housing and then tapped the hole for the 1/4 inch NPT fitting.
I just did it and just for the hell of it I plugged my oil pressure gauge into the thing, I am even using the 90 degree bend, and at idle it is reading about 70 PSI, and at about 3000RPM about 115 PSI.
Right now I took the gauge off cause I din't wanna break it, so a capped off the hole and I am not using it for anything till I figure out a way to lower the oil pressure.
Well I cannot really tell how much exactly, but It maxed out the 100 PSI gauge and it went another 1/4 inch or so.
So why the hell is there so much oil pressure, is this normal, I just figured GM knew what the hell they were doing.
Also, what restrictor do I need, for this little problem??

yea i was never a fan of the whole oil pressure gauge and the valve garbage that restrictor is cheaper then a valve and gauge setup neways + no clutter

No problem drag. What vitamin posted is exactly what Nick and I did, just a more expensive route. Either way, reduced flow (to a point) makes your turbo seals happy. Should work for you too QBE.

I, personally, would rather see it at the head so that you wouldn't have just a thin, little piss stream shooting into the turbo. I think if you had it at the head-side of the feed line it might still give the line a chance to fill, but at a slower
volumetric flow rate. (<--- did you like that I used it in a sentence and everything

exactly what i was thinking. a damn 80 psi stream spaying into the turbo is all it would become. so here is the thing i read in another post. even though you are putting down to a 1/16th hole. it is still 80psi. Its like putting your finger over the end of a water hose. so i would think two of them would work the best. one at the head and one at the turbo. but is that enough then. hmmmmmmmmm thats my opinion.

Drag, I placed my right off the head. I can snap a picture and circle the fitting if you'd like. Personally, I don't see a need to use two as it would really restrict flow. Either way though, I would suggest putting the resistor by the head so you don't have a 1/16" high pressure spray directly into your turbo.
