I have an 04 with the 2.2 ecotec, only 80k on the motor and I'm planning to do the Eaton m62 build. My question to everyone is: Should I get all the parts for the build together and supercharge the motor that's in the car now since it only has 80k, or should I pull a 2.2 eco from the junkyard, rebuild it first and supercharge that? Not trying to go cheap on this but I'd like to avoid buying a new motor if i can. Any input is appreciated.
As long as the engine is in good health and you get a good tune the stock engine will be fine. The M62 does not make enough power to kill a stock Ecotec.
