just wondering which saabs, and what years have the turbo and such that fits on our ecotecs, was looking at trying to find one this winter
You want the upper case T it's the bigger turbo.
^True....
I forgot about that....The smaller t will still fit but its the Garrett turbo and makes less power, the larger T is the Mitsu turbo and makes more.
Has this actually been verified, that the high pressure makes more power? Can't you turn the garrett's wastegate out and make more power??? I was under the understanding that the high pressure turbo just had the wastegate cranked out further from the factory.????
Nope...the low pressure is a different turbo...its the Garrett and the high pressure is the Mitsu.
It has been verified I believe by the pioneer of this whole setup Bradonson(sp?)
He has had both setups.
Ok, so stupid question. I just picked up a Saab kit, but I have no clue which one I have. Can anyone tell me how to identify it??
One will say garrett on the turbo and the other........well ill let you guess on that one
The ones ive had, had the name on the compressor housing.
do they fit LN2's?
I am looking for struts for my newly aquired Eibach pro-kit performance coils, If anybody has some?

nope. Just the ecotec. Search "turbo ln2" or "turbo 2.2 ohv" should get some good ideas for your 200hp build.
Just a quick question on Saab turbos and the LN2 2200.
A friend of mine a couple states away killed his Saab 9-5 a few weeks ago and was offering up parts. I asked about the turbo and he has TWO he's giving me that he pulled from parts yard cars. I haven't seen them yet but they should be in good shape since he isn't an idiot and they should be the Garret low pressure unit, which is what I'm after if I ever turbo (not Turbo) my Sunfire. If I ever do that it's going to be part of a mileage build, not so much for power. I want to run maybe 5-6psi of boost.
Anyway the question is this: Will the Saab Garret low pressure turbo work with the commonly available turbo manifolds for the OHV engines?
Special Bonus Question: Is a 2.5 free flowing exhaust going to be okay for this low-boost application?
NO!!!!!!!!!!! The saab kit will only fit the eco engines!! Unless you make a manifold, I would guess that anyone that would do this would run a t3/t4.
... can't edit a post here?
Okay, that second link was a poor choice, just going off the description and not the listing content. There are plenty of 2200 OHV turbo manifolds for sale though, they call for T3/T4 turbos.
I have had the 2nd one, when I had a OHV motor. The saab turbo uses a 3 bolt triangular flange not a t3/t4 flange, look up a picture of the turbo. I am running the saab set up on my eco and have owned a OHV before, wont fit!!
Okay, thanks for clearing that up! I tried to google up the turbo but all the pics I was seeing seemed generic four bolt stuff. I guess I'll throw these turbos up on ebay when I get them if they look solid and use the money towards something else.
What are you gonna sell em for? Might buy one. Pm if interested.
Don't mean to thread jack, but Jason, how did you like that OHV log manifold when you used it? I'm trying to decide on a turbo manifold right now, and thinking of using that one, but getting it cryo treated, and then maybe jet coated.
thoughts?
Hated it, make your own, I ran into a few problems,
1. I had to cut the alternator bracket for the ARP studs I ran,
2. Also I had to weasel the bolts into the flange for the wastegate, ext gate ofcoarse
I had to tap the turbo flange bolt holes, and it was a biatch gettting the bolts in there past the gt3271 I had.
Plus it was cast lol.

No idea yet what I'll sell them for. I've got to get my hands on them and see what I have, they should be in good shape but I don't even want to think about a number before I examine them. Once I do and everything is good I'll probably see if I can barter them for something for my car or post them here for something like the median price recent ebay sale price or a little lower.
I'll try to remember to let you know once I have 'em.
VTLoki
I would not coat a cast mani, they have a hard enough time holding the heat as a cast mani, let alone coating it to hold more....
Mac... Please do, if I do not have a new one this summer then please let me know.
