Anyone know what size female star socket I need to remove the 2 studs above the intake manifold flange?
Dont know, my engine i all 12pt arp polished... sorry
Hmmm I need to get them off to install the lsj mani
you shouldnt need anything special. take a pic and post it if you can....they should all be the same size for the intake manifold.
There are 2 studs with threads that stick out of the head. There are bolts that screw on them to hold the mani on the head. They have stars at the end of them. In need a female socket to remove them. The instructions tell you to do so at least. Can I just reuse them
On the lsj mani?
Not bolts nuts that screw on to them.
PICTURES DUDE....i didnt need any special tools for mine...worked just fine.
K I'll post some pics in like 20 min
its the stud with the star end on it in the middle of the pic
i tried that
thanks. Its too small its like a star like a torx bit, but female.
ahhhhh...i didnt have that issues. mine came out with the stud and nut together still....goo call thought. that is where the 2 long studs go. you should be able to get it with a 5 mm 12 pt socket. or even a regular one. but im pretty sure its 5 mm...if not, use a pair of vise grips but be very careful
yeah I think autozone has a kit with 5 different female sockets. Hopefully they have something that works! I'll look for 5 mm
Use two nuts. crank them down on eachother and then use a wrench on the one closest to the head to turn the whole stud.

good for you, post something relevant or don't post.
to the OP, the studs are torx sockets. I'm not sure if the size is exactly E6, but it'll work. I just tried it.
Thanks guys! I'll pick up an e6 socket tomorrow. I'm about halfway done with this install. 6 hours invested so far. The hardest part as of yet was the stupid upper radiator hose connection to the of the radiator. It did NOT want to come off!
Just to note, those are inverted torx. If you can't get the socket and don't need to reuse the stud vise grips work great. Good luck

which is indicated by the "E". if it was a regular torx, it would be a "T".
mine didnt come out when i pulled the nuts off but i didnt need to remove them. i just finagled it for like 5 minutes and it slipped right now
running rich? turn the boost up
I used mine? Yeah I have 2 studs and 3 bolts on the top irrc. And I know they are the stock ones.

Or use two of the nuts jammed together to back the stud out the right way like already suggested if you don't have the E8 torx...
