Anyone got a compressor map of the saab handy?

good luck finding that compressor map ive looked i cant seem to find one even from saab..... idk tho the turbo makes 210 hp on a 2.0 which im sure has lower compression at 12 psi on the 9-3 soo i dont think its far off

After all I read I think 275 would be as much as your going to get out of that turbo. That being said I think that it would take alot of supporting mods to get here.

Agreed, it will take a TON of supporting mods, head, cams, lots of tuning, intake manifold, throttle body and that's not including if you outflow the turbo and turn it into a hairdryer

I think it is no problem with good tuning.

I think meth would be a great help with the saab turbo...I know I was going to run it when I was building my setup

Assuming your talking 275whp, I'm gonna venture to say it can be done, but it will likely be an early peak, and the pressure you will have to run to hit it will affect longevity of the turbocharger. Your almost certainly going to exceed ideal turbine inlet pressures, meaning more back pressure, more reversion and more heat, as mentioned above.

To me, the shortest path to this power if your only using the saab turbo is higher static compression - make more power with the available air rather than forcing diminishing returns with each extra pound of boost. It's a nice thought, but a lot more work than it's worth IMO, if it will even work ok with pump gas.

I do know the compressor upgrade is suposed to support 350......so with that 275 wouldnt be to hard.

i guess only time will tell.... i wil repost when it gets on the dyno.... its gonna be a week at least the guy tuning had to take next week off ao im stuck

forgive my naieveness..but can you simply swap in a better turbo with the same Saab equipment? I've been toying with starting to piece together a Saab turbo, but I figure as merely a daily driver and my first turbo, it wouldnt be desired to have so much i've got to rebuild the internals.

to be honest the saab is plenty for a dd.... bit boost is like crack once you have it your hooked and a little is just not enough....but the saab turbo isnt like a t3 you cant just swap a dif turbo into the saab manifold.... you could however use the turbo cobalt setup which is a bigger turbo and all the oil lines are in the same positions..... but i will have dyno video and results as soon as i get the car tuned plus 1/4 mile times asap.... my fastest time was 14.5@97 on 3 psi boost leak and a horrible tune...

hmm...Ive been strongly considering Saab setups..but the Cobalt Turbo setups work on our 03-05 Cavaliers too? Different intake manifolds though right? thats the more expensive expense compared to the 'ready to bolt on Saab'?

Like I have said...do the compressor upgrade and the saab turbo becomes a contender if your not looking for crazy power goals.

any info on the compressor upgrade?

IRRC its just like any other compressor upgrade for a td04.

I had posted the links earlier this year as I was going to build a monster saab setup..but decided to use the t3/t4 I have sitting here instead.

Those are 2 I came across and I remember there was quite a few more. The upgrade is common with the subie crowd apparently.

im not a cobalt turbo expert but i know you need the cobalt thermo housing and no u wouldnt need the intake manifold and i believe the oil lines aare the same... theres a post somewhere on here of someone doing that turbo setup.... but the saab is really all you need for a dd.... imo once you need a clutch and a built motor its no longer a dd.... yes u can drive it everyday bit just slapping a turbo on it and driving it is what most ppl are talking about....

i have a built motor and built clutch but still drive the thing every possible day I can. There is a reason I put 25K miles on it in 5 months...

mines a daily driver too, just cause it has a better clutch doesnt mean its not a daily driver
and i put the cobalt turbo on mine and it runs like a champ/

WTF.....if it needs a clutch and a built motor it's not a DD? Do you drink Cranberry juice every month too? Anything can be a DD if your willing to pay for the gas and insurance and drive said vehical / story.

After thinking about it a second longer, I used to DD the old s10 my buddy n i worked on. After every tank of gas it needed the rockers adjusted , had a spool, 4k stall, no power brakes, or steering,no heat/ac, or radio but got better gas milage than my stock dakota at the time while running consistant 11.40's off the bottle all day long. ( 383 s ten 13mpg vs. 318 dak 11mpg. ) And it was an awesome DD
