ok so i finnally got the turbo on and i noticed the heater core hose is really close to where the dp is supposed to be.. i am getting one built in one week and i was just wondering if anyone had any trouble with it melting the heater core hoses? even if you wrap the hose or the dp thats alot of heat...
Use 2.5"...i'm 99.9% sure that 3" will not fit, and well it is bigger than the turbo outlet.
I broke my thermostat housing when my downpipe rubbed against the housing for long enough and it finally gave way. So if you can, I would either put a small dent in the downpipe where it touches, or what I did, take the thermostat housing off, heat, and bend the metal piping away from the downpipe area. Either will save you a headache in the future.
I had to use a short piece of 2.5" to weld to the turbo outlet flange to fit and then went into a 3". It gets pretty tight on my car (LD9) so the dp is getting wrapped.
well my flange is def 3 inch out of the turbo... im not using the stock saab flange...and isnt the brandoson dp 3 inch? looks awefull big to be 2.5
My Garrett TO4E 57 trim with a stage 3 turbine only has a 2.5" outlet. The flange matches my T04E turbo, which I believe is the same for the T3/T4 turbos (could be wrong).
Trust me, it is only 2.5".
I've messed with the setup enough to know...had tons of problems when the tstat housing broke because of the 2.5". 3" wouldn't even fit whatsoever
You can fit a 3" pipe over the 2.5" hole on the hot side flange. That's how mine is setup, not ideal, but it works.
I should note that mine is a Garrett 5-bolt style flange, like the style used on many older Fords. The 4-bolt flanges may be another story and I'm not sure what flange you have.
im telling you my flange is 3 inch lol im not using the stock flange and the outside where you weld to is def 3 inch....
I'd find a different flange then...
when me and brandonson were making the downpipes we wer making our own flange, 3" is to big for the area on our cars to fit. due to the heater core lines, we tried everycombo to make it work and nothing did. so we went w/ 2.5"....thats how its been done, with the flange you have i dont know what to tell you. Take it to a show and have tem make it for you
"take it to a shop and have them make it for you"***
What is the outlet size on your turbo?
That is 2.5"...
Any bigger and it would surely go over the edges and the flange would be awkward.
ill take a pic and post it tom... slocav do u have any pics on how u ran ur charge piping? i ran mine the only way i could but i dont like it....
Yes I'll have some pictures this weekend if I get around to it. I'm in the process of piecing my car back together after last years mishap.
isnt there a seal in the tstat housing? wont heating it up make it melt?
Just the tube, I didn't heat anywhere near the main part of the housing. Never had a problem, heated it up, grabbed it with pliers and done
got an email? pm me since you already went through this and have been helping alot
