Wrong injectors with the S/C kit, Help!
Thursday, February 03, 2011 1:08 AM
Okay, hello everybody, I got a problem. So I am buying a GMPP S/C Kit and I was looking at the injectors and notice that they don't look like the ones on my 2003 Cavalier. These are short and stumpy with green tops as for mine are long and black. If I recall correctly, aren't those for the 2002 Ecotec Cavaliers? I think they may be LSJ injectors. So my question is:

1.) Being LSJ injectprs, will they work on the 2003 fuel rail? (I read that someone used bushings to make up the gap. Where do those bushings go?)

2.) Being that the 12593904 injectors that come with the kit are 370cc, what is the flow of the LSJ injector (I'm finding answers ranging from 32 to 36 lbs/hr) and how would the difference affect performance, driveability, and realiability with the gm flash (32#s being less fuel and 36#s being more fuel than the kits 370cc injectors)?

Thank you for any help.

you have one of two routes you can take. you can either A- space the injectors to solve the gap like many have.(not sure how u go about this but many on here have) or B- can get lucky like me and fine a 2002 cavy eco fuel rail. This is the same rail that comes on the cobalts so this solves your gap issue. both are fine routes.

as far as the size i beleive any bigger you will need to retune to solve it. not sure. check with OldSkool and tinkles both found in Northeast region.they can help fill in the info gaps. gl youll love it either way.

If you got the shorties, I would just use the 03-05 rail. All you need to do is slot the mounting holes where the rail bolts to the cylinder head, and flip it over and grind the blocks off so they are even with the rest of the tab. Just be careful not to cut into the rail when grinding.

Thank you guys. As you said, my options are to space them, get an 02 fuel rail, shave down the fuel rail OR buy the original injectors. The originals are pricey ($70 each) and I don't really want to shave down my fuel rail (sorry JUCNBST). As for a 02 fuel rail, they are pretty hard to find and I just put a new FPR on my fuel rail, so it makes me GRRR (lol). I guess I might try the spacer method. I found this post explaining it a little.

Cobarl SS Supercharger in a 2.2L Cavalier?

*You might need to sign up with them to view it.

It seems you need two spacers under the cup per injector. Is that safe?

i am doing this right now and did not feel comforable doin either my machinist is making something to solve it. if your interested please pm me and ill see what he will charge you for a set to do it the right way. these are aluminum spacers that are o ringed and should not be too expensive. but will work with the 03 rail and be the right fix.
