nasty nate's blower build

Got the car running last eve. Finally now that the weather sucks!
Well this is useless without pics I know but when I get home I might take some pics.
But anyways. Its a 2.4 with a overdriven m45. I'm happy! Well I have a 2.6 pulley and the oversized crank. Any ideas what kind of power to expect? Profile is pretty up to date? Should I be running my 320cc injectors or my 550's?
goin to hook up the meth soon as I make the tank for where I want it.

Expect minimal power. The MP45 is undersized, and it's a hell of a heat generator. Turbochargers are simply far more efficient than the Eaton. I used to be all for supercharging, but even a small turbo (Garrett T3 50 trim .48 A/R turbine, .42 A/R compressor from a 1983-1985 Volvo 740) at the same boost level would be a night and day difference. It was when I switched... and you can always go bigger easily.

I've had 2 diff turbo setups allready. And I know its not going to run like it did turboed but I was looking for reliability

The M45 can make good power (not saying more than Turbo). I would run the 550's 310's will be maxed. Get meth on it before you get on it. You need a big nozzle. I'm running a 500cc nozzle.

I made 219whp with my M45 and a 2.5 and oversized crank pulley. It has more in it.

QFT... 550's might be a little big for it, but i agree about the 310's. I would run 440's personally. And I know you have more in yours John, add some timing .... I am also running the OD Crank pulley and a 2.6 on the snout with lots of Meth.... I have cams too. Its ok for a DD, but slow as balls compared to my Turbo LN2....

I say 550's because my 42's are just about maxed, if it was not for my meth they would be maxed. I'm going to be moving to 60's.

god why does everyone bitch about the m45? so the guy doesnt need 500whp, who cares?

i still think you can get 250whp out of an m45 setup. and well.. thats good enough for 12s in a j-body. right about where most turbo cars are running.

I would love to have another S/C 2.4 like I used to have. It was reliable, quick, and most important FUN. It wasnt fast but it sure as hell was a blast to drive. I enjoyed driving it far more than I did my turbo build.

With my very limited track time I managed to pull off a 14.2 with the 310cc injectors and the "stock" GMPP program. I was also making power until revlimit (started to level at about 6300). I wonder what it would have been capable of with bigger injectors and a good tune???

Well I might be talking out my ass but...

I dont think the M45 has the beans...

Also the # of 12 sec cars on this forum are slim...
Not everyone can actually A) make the power required B) hook up said power C) pilot the thing down the track.

I could easily see someone going low 13s with the M45 with a proper build and tune. The GM tune leaves a lot to be desired.

Aslo, my blower had been broken in a car accident (snapped the TB mounting flange off and smashed the bypass actuator, possibly also damaged the bypass valve) and im sure it didnt have the best of flow properties into the S/C.

Trust me I'm not trying to get in the top 5 for power or be the fastest with this set up. I want to get it running then convert to a tvs unit. I still have all my turbo stuff so that's still an option as well.
The lack of an intercooler really limits this setup.
I know what it did with the turbo I've only gone 1/4 throttle with the blower on cause I was having belt issues and other mishaps but I was just wanting to get an idea. Thanks for the input though.

I think with a properly tuned M45 on a stock motor and good driver mid 13's, maybe a low 13. I think with a built motor and a M45 with proper tuning and driving 12's could be done.

If you're thinking Vulcan manifold good luck. Better order it now so you'll have it for the 2012 season.
