ok guys i have a question, so i figured i would ask the guys who know best. here is my problem my engine is boosted and built, im using a h.o quad4 in a 95, turbonetics 60trim t3/t4 oil cooled journal bearing. here is the problem, whenever im sitting at idle, like after coming to a stop i get smoke from the exhaust. The car runs rich but this is not carbon smoke, i think it is burned oil smoke since it is more white or blueish looking than black. i am using a 4an oil feed line without a restrictor, my drain line goes back into the oil pan and after thinking about it i think the drain may be too low. I pulled the turbo and there is no oil residue at all where the turbo connects to the exhaust mani,so i know the oil source is not coming from the engine. but there is oil residue where the turbo connects to the downpipe inside the turbo, not much, but what im thinking is oil is getting past the seals in the turbo, maybe from too much oil pressure, so im wondering if using a restrictor would help or does anyone else have any suggestions
if it can't win a race it better win a show
any help or suggestions at all?

i dont know too much on this subject but I know through reading on this site that your situation has occurred to people because of no restrictor. The extra pressure pushes through the seals. Im not sure if the seals get ruined in the process.
you'll have to find out if that turbo requires a restriction, i'm thinking that it does and like you said if the return is mounted to low oil backs up in line to turbo and blows it out exhaust.
yeah i think that is the problem, i will try running a restictor first since trying to find a way to fill the hole in my oil pan might be the harder option, hopefully the seals in the turbo are not ruined if that is what is happening

put a 0.060" restrictor on the turbo inlet. they sell them all over ebay for those turbos. i thing the name of the flange is called function 7. make sure you specify you want one with a 0.060" restrictor otherwise they will send one without a restrictor.
I run the same restrictor, still have the oil burning issue. When the rpms are up, the oil is tossed around and whatnot, when you stop the oil settles back in the oil pan and if you're running the correct amount of oil- no matter how high in the pan you place the drain entrance you'll hit this problem. When stopped at a light or where ever, bring your rpms up to 1500. This way the oil won't settle completely. Problem solved... Sort of. My next step is to use a 1/2 npt plug on the pan and run the drain to the girdle... problem NOW solved for good.
"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."
