I just got my M45 charger or my winter car and I am curious, where and how do I change the oil on it? Thanks.

No different than you would on a normal LD9.

Sorry, I was unclear. How do I change the oil on the supercharger?

Oh sorry. There is a allen screw under the snout. Take it out empty it and fill.

Oh ok. That sucks, lol. I don't think I can get at that Allen screw without pulling either the charger or the alternator.
Another question. Isn't that plug right atthe bottom of the charger? Do I have to suck the old oil out? And if so how do I get the new oil in and plug back in without draining the oil?
Does that make any sense? Lol

Makes sense. If it was me I would pull the charger off to do it. Doing it on the car not sure other tahn using a vacum pump, but not sure how hard getting new fluid in would be.

you can use a syringe and a hose and suck it out the fill hole that way beware the smell of that oil. the M90 doesn't have a drain the SC oil isn't a regular service item but we change it with a syringe
idid mine at the start of the year i might do it again over the winter doesn'tt need to be done that often

Good info. I think on the m45 I have only a drain. So I have to fill from the bottom. I'll take q good look tomorrow. I am suprised there are no other threads on this.

if you have to fill from the bottom then you have no choice but to take it off the car the M90 you have to suck it out or remove the charger and tip it over the drain is also the fill

Which is the oil that the M45 uses?

GM part #: 10953513
(Canada. Don't know if US is the same.)
You need 2 bottles.
GM recommend replacing the supercharger oil every 30,000 miles (50,000 kms) on the factory-boosted engines (i.e.: 3.8L L67 V-6).

Most people don't bother. Working at a dealership, we rarely service the superchargers on 4-cyl and 6-cyl applications. People usually don't believe you that the fluid needs changing. Technically, it's self-lubricated, but like any oil, it needs changing after some time, IMO anyways.

Any other numbers for this particular oil?

+1 on the stench of the oil, we cracked on open in a decent sized building and it was terrible, do it outside lol.
how many quarts of oil will it take for an m45...2001 cavalier?
Some fill to 4, some have added up to 8, not sure witch is correct
About 4 1/2 quarts for your regular oil/filter change.
For the m45 supercharger as stated above you need 2 of the 4.5oz bottles available through GM. IIRC they are about 10 bucks each. To change its oil remove the blower, remove the hex plug under the snout, tip it over and let it all drain out. once its empty just fill it with the two new bottles and spin the pulley a few times to make sure everything is nice and lubed.
People who use more than between 4&5 quarts of oil either have modified oil pans or are idiots.
