I've been reading about boosting and saw that autos can be boosted. I was wondering if people who have 2.2 auto ecos can post what they have for their setup. I'm just looking to see what people have and how they went about doing it.
Of course auto's can be boosted
I don't have an Eco so I can I can't contribute to this thread.

Alright. I guess my first question would be where is a good place to start, as in, what is usually the first thing one would consider to purchase in the list of items? I still have much to learn. Just trying to find a ground for what to do.
Couple things to determine and figure out what you want.
1. How much money you have for this project.
2. Turbo or S/C
3. How much power do you want
^ Depending on that answer
4. Do you want to boost on a stock motor or built motor.
An M62 Cobalt you can put on and be really reliable on a stock eco engine
A turbo will be a little mor work and money to be reliable, you will need it tuned and maybe more and more tuning once you get it running.
I am sure a lot of eco guys can chime in and help ya out about where to get some of your eco stuff. But figure out what you want first.

read or browse through the photos & media section as well as this section. plenty of auto's boosted. a couple s/c setups, a couple turbo setups. how much are you wanting to spend and how much power you are lookin to have are other questions to consider.

Thanks for that. I was reading and found a
link that tells what the general order is. Didn't see it the first time I read thru
I plan on doing it on the stock motor if that would help any input from others. I want to get a turbo. And as far as cost goes, it is still in the air.

also a great site to be on as well since it's ecotec based.

i had a boosted auto ecotec. a lot of pictures can be found on my cardomain. it was actualy really simple to do and really only took a weekend to do. depending on power and reliability depends on cost and everything. yes the gm reflash works really with any turbo kit that utilizes the saab 370cc greentops and a turbo around the size of a saab td04 or td04h.
boost is so much fun. its also fun in an auto eco as well. i ran 10 psi with mine and everything held up great, even the stock tranny
dragracemyz24- you can just as easily daily drive a turbo setup as you can an m62. its all in the tune and what components you use and supporting mods.
Dragracemyz24 wrote:I have a ld9 auto that was custom turboed twice and is now running the m45 kit. You have a lot of options. First thing first, paint your rear drum black if your using the black wheels. Why would you want to draw attention to the fact that our cars are not equipt with 4 wheel disk? Is this your daily driver? If not then pay the extra money and go turbo, even if it is just the saab kit its better than supercharged. But if it is your daily driver you might want to consider the m62.
Yes this is my daily drive. My only drive actually. I am going with the Saab kit. I've asked a bunch of people on here and I've heard no complaints. It's reliable and simple. It's just an auto, no need to get crazy.
As for the wheels....I never thought about it like that. I may do it,'
And if anyone has any info on where to get parts for cheaper I am all ears.

$400 for EVERYTHING to turbo an ECO cav [minus the tuning obviously]????
car-part.com
this is where i found my turbo locally. i got the turbo, manifold, and all the lines for it for $400 out the door. i know there are quite a few on there for around the same price. get the air injection manifold if you can, other wise you'll have make a block off plate to block off some of the ports that the non-air injection manifold doesnt cover

I have been for about a year now on a 100k+ stock ld9. Before that had an m45 with 75 shot on the same motor. As long as you have a decent tune and do something with the pcv system youll be fine.

I wasn't clear. The turbo only was 400. I only called about that, I'm just going one step at a time,
Just make sure if you do the GM reflash you get a interceptor or b&m shift plus to help with the shifting of the trans. Slipping will kill it the fastests
icemike89 wrote: As long as you have a decent tune and do something with the pcv system youll be fine.
What do you suggest to do to the pcv system? Last i new there was not much you can do to it..
Realy depends what motor you have. If your eco/ld9 you wana block off the pcv port in the head when turbo'ing so you dont boost the crankcase. Also a simple catch can inline with the hose going to the intake helps alot.
On my ld9 I have the air/oil separator bypassed and the hose from the timing housing ran to a catch can. Then drilled/tapped a fitting in my ho manifold flange that goes to a manifold vacuum with a check valve inline.
For an Eco the hole in the intake mani to the head is about the diameter of a toothpick. As far as pressurizing the crankcase through a hole the size of a toothpick, i don't think much pressure would go through. Skunk explained alot about this in another thread. Best thing to do if you don't want to pressurize the crankcase is add another nipple on the valve cover and put a filter/breather on it. Or if you like to suck oil into your turbo and charge pipes you can run the hoses from the valvecover to the turbo like others are doing these days. lol
