Hey so i was wondering if the ld9 can run 6-8 psi without a fmu and without doing any tuning. Will the ld9 computer read the boost and adjust for enough fuel or should i just get a fmu as well?... thx
The computer does not read boost unless it has been reflashed with the GM supercharger reflash. This is only possible to do on a 2000+ vehicle.
The stock injectors and computer can not compensate enough to safely run ANY amount of boost.
BTW you really need to fill out your profile. Since I dont know what year your car is I can't give you any suggestions.

FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
sorry bout that. I have a 99 z24 but its just my daily driver and i have all to set the turbo up except injectors and fmu but since im working on a 3400 project i was hoping there would be a easy way to quickly set it up and run the turbo. Will i be able to just get brown tops and a fmu or will i need to do the flach for sure. and any clue on the price? thanks alot
depends on if you rather change out a motor every time you drive your car. putting a turbo on and boosting without doing fuel or tuning is like kool-aid with no sugar, just doesnt make any sense.
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten

It tastes bad too :-)
No seriously - back in the day when I first thought about running boost, I didn't realize how much you really needed to change to accommodate boost. Then you read about the guys that blow everything up even with a tune - sort of gets thinking. Not to mention the PCV issues people have.
You need the Tune at a minimum with injectors. An FMU helps immensely to get the ratio in the ball-park very quickly.
Read the boost sticky from "Shifted".

You "can" put the 00-02 flash on the 99 computer, but you will lose most of your gauges, because the 99 doesn't have a BCM. The dealer will not do the reflash on anything older than 00'. You need to find someone with HPTuners....and pay them to install the reflash or custom tune your PCM. You could get larger injectors and have them tuned with again...HPTuners. Cheapest way would be a FMU, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and later injectors. Drivability will be affected.
Since this is a daily. I would do it the right way...or not at all......

maybe this will help you decide. given the same fuel pressure a boosted engine needs 10% more fuel for every pound of boost. a stock ecm tune can in no way compensate for that kind of fuel requirement.
