I have a '99 z24 ld9 5spd and I've installed a turbo sistem on it. Right now is at 7psi and that's where I'm going to leave it for it has stock internals for now. Injectors are 310cc, full 3'" downpipe and exhaust, mitsu T03/T04 and interc. I've been going through every forum I find from both systems. I've seen the Apexi work personally on Hondas but read that it wont work for our cars cause it does something to the timing when adding or taking fuel. I like it cause it can be work with while driving, don't know about the HPT that much. The other problem is that down here in Puerto Rico, not many dyno certified tuners have work with cavaliers or maybe none, so theres not that much knowlegde on LD9 engine tuning. Which would be a good for tuning my set up and which system or if there a simpler way to go. Need real advice from someone who really has one of this sistems install or another on an Ld9.
I'd just go HPT for fine tuning, with a rising rate regulator to handle the boost fueling. As you've mentioned, altering MAP sensor signals (such as with AFC) can interfere with ignition timing on these PCM's. They are a unique breed.

HPT over SAFC anyday. SAFC will do nothing for you, but cause problems
