finished the turbo kit last night...car runs very strong up to 3k and then has no power...it sputters and maybe misfire...if i stay out of boost it passes 3k fine with no problems...what would cause this...i looked around on the boost forum and say no evidene of others having this problem...

I had a similar problem when i first installed my turbo, are u running a wideband? U could be running extremely rich if u are not tuned yet and installed larger injectors, also if it is untuned it could be ur timing. U will also want to get some colder spark plugs, im running ngk tr6's from my experience so far they run the best once the car is turboed. They are also cheap, the part number is 4177 they are heat range 6. When i would step on the gas the car would feel like the engine was just cutting out, but my afr would drop down to like 9.0 which is extremely rich, the car wont even move with that much fuel in the lower rpms.

if it can't win a race it better win a show

Need more info on your set-up. It can be sooo many times. How is the car being tuned?

Magic 8 Ball says: Fill out your registry with the proper mods. After that, please give more information, such as: engine code, tuning software or method, plugs being used, plug gap, fuel pressure, fuel pump, injector size, is there a wideband?, if not, why the hell are you driving a boosted car without one? , what size turbo, what are the specs, are you serious enthusiest or are you just jumping on the bandwagon and the only reason you put a turbo on for is the "uber cool" sounds? Answer these, and then and only then, we MAY be able to help you....

That is your problem. You are on stock injectors with no way to increase fuel when in boost. You are probably starting to hit boost at 3k and no fuel. You need tuning.

You can't just upgrade them like top feed. You should really look into a top feed conversion or getting an extra injector controller....

Do a Search on here and you should come up with some ideas/results.

Side feed injectors can not be upgraded. Still you have to have a way to increase fuel under boost. Tuned with HPTuners, or a FMU (which is a bandaid).

I live in Jacksonville Fl and tune with HPT, but you need to look into doing a top feed injectors swap. Stock injectors are too small.

do you have anything that prevents the MAP sensor from seeing boost? If that thing sees that the system is getting pressurized it freaks out the computer. Try using a check valve so it only reads vacuum.

Nothing is going to fix itself unless you get that puppy tuned...lol as for the side mount injectors im clueless, but no tune = not enough fuel= misfires, and thing start breaking so be careful.. Look into hp tuners its a pretty sweet lil program i got it on my 2.2 eco, and its really amazing... FMU has to do with fuel management, not sure but i dont think you really need to run that if all your gonna push is 5 psi... With hp tuners you will be able to change your injector constant and tune the car to give fuel in boost, so maybe your stock injectors will work...Good luck!

You have no clue what you are talking about.... Read my previous post about the top feed conversion.

You guys need to stop giving advice when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Listen to Ryan, that car needs bigger injectors. The reason you "hit a wall" is because the car goes INSTANTLY lean and falls flat on its face, you are risking detonation and heavy damage like this.

That engine ***NEEDS*** bigger injectors, but because it has side-feed injectors there is zero option to upgrade them. You can either convert to a top-feed setup (lots of work, requires decent tooling/knowledge), or you can run an extra injector controller with a 5th injector (risk of fuel puddling).

There is NO reason to tune the car *yet* with HPT because you do not have enough fuel to tune with, your stock injectors are almost maxed out with stock power, but they are irreplacable. Once you have a way to add fuel, then you can worry about tuning. (And the car WILL need tuning.)

Ryan, I don't understand how you keep dealing with this kind of stupidity.
