You need a 2-bar OS. Get the GM Reflash and then adjust the data as needed. The stock tune does not have accomodations for boost pressure.

To answer your question. You do not have to have the GM reflash. Your profile shows your car is a 99 which can take the reflash but you will loose gauge functions on the cluster.

To answer your question more thoroughly, you need the GM reflash if you want the car to have the best tuning capability and not use a faked 2-bar setup. I do not suggest running the stock tune and faking the values to run boost. I like my new OS.

You can also run a 97 Speed Density file which reads map for fueling, this would allow you to still have your gauge functions as well.

Fact is everyone has there own method and what they like for certain years.

John, has anyone successfully tuned for boost with that file? I have an 01 so I'll just use the GM reflash to tune mine but my friend has a 96 we swapped to 97 so this would be helpful in tuning his car this winter. I'm in no way doubting just looking for info.

Why does everybody always jump to the fake 2 bar thing? John is right. IT can be done on the stock OS with proper adjustments. Is it the best, NO. Will it work better than a fake 2bar, YES! Hell, its the only thing the ECO guys can do (besides the SC reflash that they can't modify). If you don't care about the gauge functions, then run the SC Reflash.

To the OP I am running a 99 harness with a 2000 PCM with the GM S/C reflash on it. I don't have the stock water temp or tach working. I have aftermarket ones. Out of all my switch a roos with PCM's we found this to be the easiest to tune with.

I have tuned 2 cars now with the 97 Speed Density file.

If the car is a supercharged car then I would run factory ECU (TPS x RPM) for tuning. If it is Turbo then I would consider switching to one of the 2 option to have it KPA x RPM).

THe car is turbo'd and is a 5 speed. If anyone has a the stock file for a 97 speed density 5 speed would it be possible to get a copy? I checked the repository and didn't see one. /thread jack

Also note lack of "IPW vs VAC multiplier" table for 97 speed density - as noted by Chris (SWEETNESS GT). The 00 does include that table.
