Pre Build questions:
Friday, August 07, 2009 8:57 PM
So i recently bought a M62 for my Ecotec. I currently have a Intake, 2.5" full exhaust on it, top and bottom R&K Sport engine mounts, A R&K Sport under drive pulley ( ** i have the stock crank pulley, putting it back on dont worry lol **). and a short throw who cares. sick of the bolt ons...anyway on to the new stuff

i have right now, the m62 charger and intake manifold with the dual bypass mod done to it, a clutch masters stage 3 clutch with a new slave cylinder and install tool, a aluminum flywheel, cobalt heat exchanger and coolant pump, cobalt Injectors and a 2002 cavalier fuel rail, the cobalt belt tensioner and accessory brackets upper radiator hose, and cobalt belt with one rib shaved off. Since my car has just over 100,000 miles on it i bought a timing kit (comes with new cam gears, a chain, and guides.) bought a new water pump, and front crank seal ( the one behind the pulley), and a fuel filter. So my questions is, am i forgetting anything? should there be any other preventative matinance im forgetting about?

Im getting wahsers for my flywheel this week, also wating on a new intake manifold gasket and a map sensor pig tail connector for the cobalt two bar because i didnt get the connector when i bought the charger. I bought a boost gauge and oil pressure gauge, but i havnt got a wideband yet. next paycheck lol. If i use the gm tune how critical is not having a wideband?... i dont want my engine to blow up because the programs messed up and it runs lean.. soo i dont think im gonna drive it hard till i get the wideband for sure.

I also heard about changing the superhcarger oil. I searched. i dont see a bolt on the end of the snout. Do you have to take the pulley off to do this? i want to change the oil before i put it on. hoping to start the build on the 13th. very excited to be boosted!!!!

some pics for the hell of it

what kinda cams you gunna be running?
comp cams has a nice blower grind for the eco i believe
other wise looks good. theres a yellow eco up the street i wish i could trade my 2.4 for sometimes lol. mainly cuz the intake mani from a cobalt is cheaper then having one made for the mp62

It dose lock out the computer but thats why i bought another one. Also to advoid the hassle at the dealership. i imagine it is near a cobalt tune. not to concerned as long as it gets me by till i get my hands on some tuners. Motors coming out of the car tonight very excited.

I have an LD9 motor in my 02 cavy. Kinda wish it was an 2.2 eco cuz i have the cobalt blower sittin in my room....plus buying an intake mani for the eco is cheaper then having one made for the LD9 lol

If your going to have the engine out and a part then build it the right way, forged rods/pistons and a built P&P head.
