ecotec turbo intake manifolds

anybody want one for an 03-05 cavalier? im making a local one and im gonna make a jig to reproduce them. ive been fabbin for about 4 years now and im trying to move beyond the neon/srt4 scene. hes already got a shotty manifold that he over paid for thats why im building him a new one.......... im actually going to be building a complete turbo system for this car which we hope will yield upwards of 600 whp and run 10's , so actually ill be building turbo manifolds also and i thnk he wants to do some traction bars too. he can chime in if he likes. anyways ill put some pics up as soon as its done. its not going to be any crazy design or anything. i use the ross machine parts as do alot of intake fabricators. it will have velocity stacks and will be fully tig welded by me. i have the flanges and materials already so ill probably do the manifold saturday or sunday and i hope to have the pics up right after im done with it. i also fixed a diy intake porting project and ill have pics of that also. im trying to get him to let me completely port the head once the motor gets rebuilt.

yeah... he is building the intake manifold for my car... i have seen his neon and srt-4 manifolds first hand simply stated... they are a work of art... i can assure you this manifold will be just as nice... btw his work makes the manifold that i bought from vulcan look like a pile of crap...

1st of all you have to be have a premium membership to sell(JBO rule).

2nd, good luck but there are already a few turbo intake manifolds being made and OEM is just finishing prototypes on theirs.

there seems like theres a little attitude there tink......... can i call u tink?

people like u make me laugh......... are u loyal to one of those other companys that make the manifolds??? cause it sure seems like it jumping and saying what u said how u said it.

1st of all thanks for the info didnt know that but now because of u i do. i even looked for a vendor section and rules about selling stuff in the open forums, granted the search or shall i say look wasnt very long but i did look and didnt find anything.

2nd, i know about the oem ones and we shall see how that goes (aaron knows what im talking about). and if ur referring to vulcan as one of them, well i have seen the fitment of theirs on aarons car which cuts coolant flow in half on the upper rad hose cause of its press on fitment, and the nice radiuse entry into the runners (not really...... just welds) and the awesome thin sheet metal they make there manis out of with all the single sided welds thats just asking to blow open under higher boost levels. so ill just say this..................

hey everyone check out this sheetmetal intake im making for my buddies car........ (pics up soon)

dont get me wrong jbody memebers, im a really laid back guy who doesnt usually initiate arguments and what not so dont take me as jerk or anything please.

do you have flow tests to prove how well they flow?

and you are forgetting LZM who is also fabricating an ecotec intake manifold actually for me. been working on it for quite a while, with every option i could want on it. and for the best price i have found.

i dont find it wise to sit there and bash other businesses.

Well he has every right to bash Vulcan.... i paid that guy over $700 to create a good intake manifold for an ecotec cavalier.... and after 3 failed attempts and over 3 months of waiting around and discussing the problems... i decided to look elsewhere and i happened to stumble upon Mike... the creator of AMMfab... told him my goals and he offered his help... now after seeing his work first hand... WOW!!! He is phenomenal at what he does... Fabricating and porting/polishing... and yeah... pretty ironic about the whole OEM thing...

all i ask is that you Judge him by the quality of his work.... and you will see it on sunday... thanks

No attitude, just trying to keep ya out of trouble. Also the market that you are looking at is relatively small and there are other companies making the same product. There is also RD Fabs, but they are more of 1 off manifolds.

The only fitment issues i have heard of from vulcan was from the guy trying to install it on a LSJ. Also i dont have any bias for one turbo intake mani or another. My cav is supercharged.

only issue i have found with vulcan was the crappy powdercoat, which has been resolved, aside from that havent seen any other issues as of yet...manifold hasve been fitting fine working on many cobalts...which are eco powered, dont see how ur cavalier is any different...anyway there are a lot of manifolds out on the market right now, vulcan, OEM, hahn, are some of the one i know of the top of my head...but more vendors making eco parts its never a bad thing...

Could you pm me or post up pics of that diy porting job you fixed? Thanks

Blew it up, build numbers coming soon

Re: ecotec turbo intake manifolds
Friday, July 24, 2009 1:13 PM
THESE ARE FACTS: first off.... the first manifold that vulcan made had 3.5" runners... which was way too short for the head flange to reach the surface.... call me dumb but i would say that's a major problem with fitment... 2nd manifold.... non O-ringed flange and did not have the egr port/ crank pressure case opened at all on the intake flange and cut the upper coolant hose off... literally in half... and terrible powder coating... and TB could not be mounted to flange on manifold... 3rd manifold... still cut into the coolant hose... the throttle body flange was put on backwards (bolt pattern) and did not have a hole drilled for the IAC also i asked for 5 ports... there were 4 on it... and the manifold sat up too high for the throttle body rotor to clear the hood due to the way it was made...and a custom bracket was made for the throttle cable thanks to my friends at Honeywell R&O... and to top it all off... there was a hole in the manifold where the TB flange was tapped... now thats quality... and i asked for my money back... did i get it...? NO... now i told him every problem with his manifolds and how to fix them.... maybe he did now... great... but i still know that AMMfab's will be better period...

I don't understand why this site feels the need to attack people all the time... pretty sure i am on YOUR side...

You realize that the way you phrased your last post that it sounds like an attack on Vulcan? I am not denying the facts, but i did get a chuckle out of your post.

Agreed!!

Btw, YOU TWO came off attacking the people who posted, getting all defensive and @!#$. I see where nobody attacked you guys. Tinkles only asked for amm to follow the rules and amm came back attacking.

I think people just simply want to see pictures and proof of the work. If thats too hard to ask for why was the post made for interest of these mani's without pictures then?

Carry on!!

WOW... so i state the truth... and try and create/design a manifold for the ecotec engines that is the best in performance, quality, fitment, and price... something that i stand by.... and i am a bad guy.... lmao!

.........and again you will have your pictures late sunday early monday... but in the mean time... you can check out some of the work he has done with neons/srt-4's here: http://forum.1gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=2351&start=0

enjoy! BTY

white cavy and tink........... sorry to come off like i did........... when i read what tink wrote i took it in a bad way by the way it was written. if there was no attitude intended then sorry guys. aaron calm down dude. i thought about posting that link too, but looks likle u already got to it. ive made well over 100 manifolds in the past 4 years those are some of the more recent things ive made. hopefully when i get home tonight the stacks and tubing will be at my front door so i can get started first thing tomorrow. i also through my itb's on aarons car just for the hell of it and it looks sick!!! thats right the neons and ecotecs have the same port spacing.......... i could literally plug the injector holes in the itb manifold and drill new mounting holes to bolt it to the eco head and shizam! itb powered eco! i took pics with my phone ill see if i can get good pics with a actuall camera though. all that being said, thanks guys and i hope u like the finished product.

woops some pics got misplaced heres the ones that should have went up

im gonna do a few post heres so there are not to many per post.

ill start with the manifold that came off the car which is exactly how it came from the company he got it from (minus the back half and throttle plate welding so the t-body would seal and the rad hose wasnt completley blocked off)..........

exterior shots, the one thing that really gets me is the vacuum ports on top of the plenum.......

in this pic the back of the plenum has been tapered by aarons guys at honey well to allow a little more flow through the rad hose, then what it was allowing. the top was restricting th e flow i think they tapered the bottom to make it symetrical.......

the boost/vaccum leak aaron was talking about above where the bolt hole went through the thin metal to allow the plenum leak.......

welds look good, but radiused entries into the runners would have been better......

bad flange matching, and i thought on there site it said something like "smooth transition from runner to flange"..........
