new pulley

Well I don't want to go to a 3.0 or 2.9 pulley because I don't want to have to change injectors, belt, and get a new pcm to have hptuned (current one has gm re-flash).

I also know that you should add a heat exchanger for any pulley downsize. Although for the 3.1, its debatable. I don't have a heat exchanger and am debating on getting a 3.1 pulley without adding a heat exchanger. What do you guys think? Has it been done?

Thanks

don't recommend any use of the m62 supercharger w/ out a heat exchanger. have you checked your intake temps? i bet they are super high and is only hurting your performance and engine. people use the reflash w/ the 3.1 pulley, any lower and it's recommended to get a tune w/ a heat exchanger & injectors, and extras.

doesn't really matter if it's been done. sometimes you are going to be the first but not always the best option.

get the heat exchanger first and then worry about pulleyin down.

So basically you can run the GM reflash with the Basis GM S/C kit but once you upgrade the pulley smaller than a 3.1, then add the H/E??

Whats the stock size pulley on the GM kit?

The stock pulley is 3.3"(3.35" maybe).

Add the H/E before the 3.1" or do them at the same time. The M62 likes to make alot of heat and when you drop pulley sizes it creates more heat.

that should be the first thing u do is get a H/E than pulley.

with a 3.1 you really should change your belt, yes you don't have to, but the tensioners going to be close to maxed out and chances of belt slip will be high.

I'm running a 3.1 now w/o an H/E...but i wont be for long.

With a roots style charge anything you can do to reduce heat is a gain.

get a H/E first, imo

So get the GM cobalt ss stage 2 belt?

If I'm going down in pulley sizes than that means that the stage 2 belt is smaller, correct?

Yes, but you have to cut a rib off.

I am going to disagree with this part of your statement here. I know of someone that ran the gm reflash with a 2.9 pully, the gm flash, meth, and aeromotive AFPR, cobra h/e and had no issues at all with it, all this with 36lbs per hour injectors. If you know what you are doing, then you can do ALOT with the flash. Most people say it sucks (which we all know it isn't the best) but with the proper knowledge and parts, it can be made to be pretty reliable.

Well I'm just gonna try the 3.1 pulley without adding a heat exchanger and not changing the belt....we will see what happens

To the OP Get an HE before you swap pulleys! 75 bucks for a cobra he on ebay go to auto store buy hosing & clamps order a pump and you will end up spending as much as you would for the pulley, pulley hub, belt, and some one to press on the hub for you. My car picked up 15 whp on adding the HE mod alone...I have the dyno sheet somewhere...the 3.1 might be okay with the reflash but wouldn't even think about doing it with out the HE....but what do I care? Do what you want it is your want your motor.
