I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.2 ecotec and auto trans... I want some opinions on what to do... I have the money to buy a gmpp supercharger kit if I can find one, or build a custom turbo kit to fit in my car... But my issue is I have a 7 year old motor with 125k on it...

Is it a good idea to put boost on a motor with that many miles or, should I go with option B... Option B is to buy a cheap motor and build a N/A motor until I can rebuild the other motor for boost... If I go with option B I will obviously be buying high compression pistons and cams and the about 7 of the 9 yards...

So I am open to suggestions, and this car is my daily driver so I don't want to blow the motor that's what brought up the concern...

Nick, why not buy and build a motor for boost....then when its built just do the swap. The way you said it makes it seem like you wanna build 2 motors. One N/A for now, and one boost for later...makes no sense, plus thats a ton of money. You can buy the GMPP kit, when u find it, then start finding a building a motor to max the kit out.

I boosted my 02 ecotec sunfire with the GM SC kit at around 120k and i'm currently near 160k and it's doing fine no problems yet.

Chris that's exactly what I am saying.... but the second motor wont be for a long time down the road because I know the n/a motor wont be satisfying for ever... and I dont have the money to build a motor for boost and the s/c or t/c... but I do have the money for a t/c, s/c or build a n/a motor right now...

My engine had 190,000 miles, boosted 7-10 PSI since 173,000, before it was removed (perfectly fine, just wanted to swap in a built engine).

120k is nothing. If you're worried about parts breaking don't modify your car.
Put the turbo or s/c on, throw some rods and pistons (the right way, of course) in a spare motor and swap it in when you feel like. Not that much to think about.
An n/a build will cost the same if not more than the turbo motor.

Put my GMPP kit on around 110K. Motor hasnt had a hic up. But the trans hates it when I get on it LOL

boosted mine around 133k, should be fine

Well Nick I stand corrected. Looks like we will be boosting around the same time then. Hell maybe we can do a week long install.

do a compression test if your at 200 across the board then i see no issue
