Water/Alky/Meth + 87 Octane?
Sunday, December 21, 2008 1:58 PM
Just wondering if anyone is using 87 octane fuel and some sort or water, alcohol or methonal injection system to prevent detonation.

I am personally considering a water/alcohol mix injection system on my M45 boosted LD9 daily driver just for the purposes of being able to run reflash timing and 87 ocatne fuel all the time instead of premium. Has anyone attempted this and monitered for detonation?

'cept methanol costs money too... but I guess if it runs fine on 87 in vacuum it'd be fine...

with 87 id probably run 75% or higher meth

other thing you can do is a boost referenced fuel system , and keep 100 or higher in a 2nd tank , either way heat build up is what you gotta watch along with the knock

Yes you can do it, it is actually why water injection was originally used in the 50's for airplanes.

The problem you run into is that you really want to use a boost based injection, or ideally a tunable PWM system. It would take you years to see a return on the investment. This also assumes you run 100% water. If you run the standard 50/50 mix your looking at like $3 for 4L which will last you about 2 tanks of gas. This adds $1.50 to the cost of each fill up.

Just run 91 and get another job, turning tricks is my advice since you seem to be very capable sexually, having 13 kids and all.
