Looking to SC my 05

Hey guys

I was looking into saving up enough $$ for a GM charger kit for my 05 ls sport.
I know through the dealer its a rip off, where would another possible place to order from be?

Another thing I ran across is this Harrop LSJ charger
I was wondering if i got all the pieces together would this be compatible with my L61?
Because IIRC Pj has the 2.4 intake manifold on his L61 block and was wondering if this would be compatible as well with the L61 to get more power from a charger.

Also if going with this charger, would I be better off with HP tuners than the reflash?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to s/c your car, then forget about the 2.4 manifold. There is a special manifold that comes with the charger. That Harrop charger looks like it would work with the s/c kit, but for 2250 US just for the charger, i would think otherwise. If you really want to s/c your car, just buy the kit. I think, but not 100% sure, paceperformance had the kits for sale. Hope this helps.

The Harrop should work with the GM S/C kit, but as far as i know no one is running it on a L61 yet. Rodimus Prime is running it on his Cobalt SS S/C.

Matthew - I wasnt planning on getting the 2.4 mani, just i remember reading a post by PJ that he had one and was wondering since that
was able to work on an L61, would this is well, i guess i should have been clearer, thanks

Tinkle- thats who had one , thanks i couldnt remember where i had saw one on a lsj

The reason i was considering the harrop, is because it is a larger flowing charger.

thanks z28 ill check it out

pj used the 2.4 eco manifold for N/A. not s/c. the s/c won't bolt up.

ull need more mods than just the s/c kit you buy online. can't run reflash. cant run stock injectors. will have to use heat exchanger. more than likely will need FMU too.

i dont see why the harrop wouldnt work on the l61 but the gm reflash really wouldnt be able to deal with the potential of that blower.

I have heard different stories about HPTuners being able to tune the L61 with a supercharger. Can it be done even if you had to replace the reflashed ECU?

yes u can tune w/ HPT for s/c. i am, evilmonkitar is, kvega is, airtonics is, and im sure a couple of other people. but yes you can't use HPT on top of the reflash. you'd need a new/used ECU.

You could use the Harrop with the Gm kit, its designed to bolt on to the same intake manifold , the intake manifold on the cobalt ss or gm supercharger kit for the L61 is exactly the same

Here is the major thing the Harrop ships with a 80MM pulley, that is wayyyyyyyy too much boost for a stock motor. Even with the biggest pulley which is 90mm or 3.5 inch thats 16psi on a LSJ, on a L61 prob 13-14psi, still wayy too much boost for a stock motor. Do not consider the harrop unless you have a built L61, otherwise you will damage the motor. 60lb injectors are the minimum for this blower. Do not try to run it with anything smaller.

The only way this could be run with a L61 is either with a piggy back or a stand alone, the GM flash nor HPT will deliver the amount of fuel needed.

im actually still using the gm reflash, i think i would need a fake 2 bar if i wanted to tune with my stock ecu with HPT, which im not even sure how to begin since the calibration is completely different than the stock ecu ive been told

I've been seeing 15psi on cool summer nights, my car is runnig just fine. Actually very well.

same, i see near 14-15psi on a cool night. 36lb injectors, gm calibration works well. that is with the m62 though, may or may not be different with that blower.

all of you guys running the green tops with these smaller pulleys need to watch it..... I maxed out the injectors on the dyno with the stock pulley @ 7350.

@6500 with 7.5 psi I was around 97% IDC.......

theres a big difference between 15psi on an M62 and 15psi on a TVS

For one thing theres blower displacement the M62 is only 1.0L the TVS is 1.32L

On the MAF I saw maybe 31-32lb per min of air on stage 2 running 15psi, running the TVS at comparable boost I was getting 37-38lb per min, big time air difference, it also leaned me by more than a full point and threw the MAF off calibration more than 20%, enough to trip the lean code

Just moving up 4psi from that im seeing as high as 48lb per min on the MAF, almost double the flow of a M62, however all that air through a restrictive intake manifold also creates heat, and until a new design is out I may have to back down the boost with pulley size in order to actually make more power

heres an interesting harrop stat from my dyno sheet im making 200lbs or better from 2500-6600rpm with a peak of 261 at 5100

ALot of V8s cant even claim those kinda numbers or over that wide of a range
