GM 2.4L S/C Kit Maintenance - Boost Forum

Last summer I installed the GMPP S/C kit on my 2.4L I have about 25,000km on the kit now. I was wondering what is the maintenance on the S/C for oil changes?
There is nothing in the documentation/instructions that came with the kit so I'm assuming that it never needs to be done. But I read somewhere on here that someone said every 30,000 miles it's do for a oil change on the S/C.
Should I maybe give eaton a call to verify?
Regards,
Good Question
Some say 100,000, some say never. I'm curious as well.

ive changed my oil in the sc about 3k miles ago just to do it.
Eaton\Mangason, and GM (for the 3800 SC) says to change the oil every 30K.

I'm assuming Mr.Goodwrench-G.T. is right. When I bought it and installed it I believed it to be a "Zero Maintenance." item. I think that if you ever had it out like to do a starter or alternator job I would change the oil in it b/c i had it out. But either then that probably not tear it out just to do it. I still have a while to go them if it's 30,000miles (48 280.32KM) but is there a definate answer?
Ill see maybe what I can find out from GM or even give eaton a call.
I called Eaton and then they forwarded me off to magnuson. I talked with a guy there about the M45 and he said "The M45 is maintence free for 100,000miles."
I guess eaton/magnuson are the same company b/c he knew alot about the M45. Also here is another thing I found out, you know how GM only offers a 1 year warranty on the S/C kit. If you bought one from eaton/magnuson it comes with a 3 year warranty.
what did you think the MP in MP45 stood for, Magnuson Product.. heh

I plan on taking my SC off to fix the bypass valve. How do you change the oil on it? I have 2 bottles of oil but haven’t actually seen how to do it anywhere
There is a plug hole under the snout on the main body of the S/C. I havent looked at it closely myself but you can see it if you look. I would assume you would use either a 3/8 or 1/2 socket wrench to remove it like on a truck rear diff or trans fill/drain hole.

Its one hours worth of work.
GM dose say to do it on the 3800's every 30K.
IF you want to not do it, its on you.

since when do you change the oil on to M90 every 30 000 i have the GM service manual DVD and the only thing it says for the supercharger is replace. its not a regular service item GM doesn't service them if you go to a dealer you can only order the SC no parts. you can order the oil and gasket to the Lower Intake Manifold but they don't change the oil. atleast around here
just get a seringe and a hose and suck it out the M90 hold 6oz of oil no idea about the M45 or M62
JBO since July 30, 2001
The classes I went through say to.
So, what happens when I am saying what GM says?

lol you really do not need to do it but every 100k but it can't hurt and it's like 10 bucks for one bottle from zzp or intense i think to do it.
there is a hex bolt on the snout of the supercharger you'll need to undo, and you'll need to get a turkey baster or get the top of a squirt bottle to get it out.
Lols.
