Alright, so long story short I have an '03 eco with a custom turbo setup, about 8 months ago it threw a rod, just got the new(3Kmiles) motor back in and wired up. started it u[p this morning and the starter struggles like the battery is low, i know its not brand new red top and brand new starter. But it does start eventually, when it does it idles at about 1200 and sounds like its running on two cylinders, now keep in mind none of the settings have changed since itran (mechanical aeromotive fpr and begi fmu) it stays running but it throws a CEL now too(going to get my scanner back thisafternoon) WHAT TH HE77 IS THE PROBLEM HERE?!?! Ignition and all of the grounds that i can see are good, its got fuel, nothings shorted on the IAC, and to top it off the first show and dyno day of the season is tomorrow. any help would be greatly appreciated..............
argh!!!! sorry i just needed to vent a little.
well find out what code you are getting...
Im wanting to bet that timing may be a problem,
however check the TPS as well.
also how much fuel are you getting... did you or zach ever upgrade the pump? When i had the bad pump in the second gen, i'd had dragging and extended crank to start, and until it finally died completly... it had fuel... but it was low fuel...
try swapping out the coils.....thats what it sounds liek to me........possible bad icm on the coil pack
swapped, supercharged, intercooled, 2.9, fun
How is the new engine, mechanically??? Did you do a compresion test on it???
Currently #4 in Ecotec Forced Induction horsepower ratings. 505.8 WHP 414WTQ!!!
Currently 3rd quickest Ecotec on the .org - 10.949 @ 131.50 MPH!!!
thats my guess, do a compression test and the odd cylinder is obviously your problem. My friend just blew his GTI VW up and thought it was the coils and found out cylinder 2 and 4 were gone lol
well i did a compression check on it when i got it from the yard but i guess something could have happened since then........
No I have already changed my coil pack, twice actually just because i have three.......
So I guess i am off to go do a compression test and hope for the best...
i take it timing wasn't off?
Are you getting the blinking Check engine light under load?

ok rodimus you caught my attention, my car used to have a blinking check engine light but it has stopped doing it, what does it mean?

If you getting the blinking cel that means a misfire, if this is also happening during idle id be willing to bet its a coil pack issue, that would also explain why it sounds like your on 2 cylinders - you probably are.

Well that would make since, mine was only under load. But my car ran like crap and i stripped everything, come to find out one of my spark plugs got smashed, not enough to ruin it or even damage it, but enough to completely close the gap. from what i can tell it didnt to any harm to the piston.
my point being it could be something simple that you normally wouldnt think of.
