Has anyone ever swapped from a turbocharged eco to a supercharged o vice versa? If s i kinda just want your opinions on what the driveability and maitenance was/is like. I'm not looking to start a super vs. turbo flame session but i have just never driven a supercharged cavalier and i want to hear some honest impressions......
turbo is better

thats exactly what its gonna turn into... never fails
yeah i know, we both have been here long enough to know better but i thought i twas worth a try, I'm just kinda getting bored of the whole turbo thing and i want to buy a house so the cav is going to have to be the daily for almost a year......
It depends on who you are and what you want to do. The way I see it is if you just want a little more pep in your step, running on a fairly low budget and aren't THAT mechanically inclined...Supercharger is right up your alley.
Want to go faster with possible plans on building the motor and are pretty handy Turbo set up it is.
I've never driven a 2.2 turbocharged but for a quick comparison Pull wise myself and a buddy of mine who has a saab 9-3 2.0t with pretty much the same mods, are pretty fairly matched (I may pull out half a car to a full car on him) and that is with the stock saab unit.
Now when you step into the realm of 50 trims and 16gs and what not then your talking AVERAGE DAY t/c eco > AVERAGE DAY s/c eco.
The reason I capitalize AVERAGE DAY is so we don't get any of the guys running smaller pulleys running into this post bragging about beating their buddies SRT4 blah blah blah.
I personally am in love my S/C but for my 2nd eco that I'm actually building, T/C all day long. Alot more power potential with a T/C oppose to an Eaton which will after a point create too much heat for what it's worth.
I am planning on taking off the blower and switching to turbo in the next couple months, the supercharger is great for drivability and having a good amount of power, Im swapping to the turbo so I can really get those 1/4 times down and plus i want over 400whp and the blower will never give me that.
thanks for the civilized replys, Iknow first hand that turbo will make more power(look in my registry) I am basically just lloking to go a diffrent way possibly.
It seems like I can never use the power I have now because arround here all I do is drive in the city and if I do decide to jump on the interstate it is so congested and the roads suck so badly
Keep in mind too that this acr almost never sees the track beause a real drag strip is a few hours away and If I'm doing anything that involves turning............well...............thats why I have a Miata
ive had both.....i had the ho saab setup and a t3/t4 turbo and switched over to the supercharger.
i like the supercharger better, but its just my opinion, nothing liek the whine.
easyness and reliability supercharger.
more reconfigure-ability turbo.
i liek both but my moneys on supercharger right now
(But i built my car just to cruise and have some pep, not an all out race car with tons of power.)
it has a smaller pulley and extra cooling and all that jazz, plus it looks nice under the hood
swapped, supercharged, intercooled, 2.9, fun
I have both right now.
Wife drive an automatic sunfire convertible with gm supercharger kit with 3.00" pulley
I drive a manual cavalier with the hahn turbo kit.
Both run about 10 psi.
On dead stop she gets me everytime. but once I get the turbo going I can always run her down.
for a lot of city driving (light to light) the supercharger is a LOT of fun especially if you sink some money in it. Truthfully I LOVE them both so hence the reason I have both, lol. Both have their pros and cons and are both lots of fun.
