Hi, I am currently trying to build a turbo kit for my 2200. I have a Garett T28 turbo that is internally gated, 48#/hr injectors, Kenny Bell FMU, intercooler, I/C piping, and downpipe w/ flange for the turbo. I'm having a hard time finding a manifold for my turbo. I've read the Boost FAQ and went to the Jegs website link that was in there but I didn't see a kit for the 2200 motor, I found a manifold flange on there for a 2.2 OHC I think it said but I don't know if that was my motor...don't know if it meant the old 2.2, even if it did I don't know if the manifolds are the same.
If that was for my engine, i wold practically have to buy every piece plus have someone weld it together, which would cost more money especially if they aren't that good of a welder. I am wondering if any of you turbo 2200 guys know anybody or place that either builds or sells manifolds for our motors. I got the kit for $450 from a local guy, he had a manifold but it was an ebay manifold and the welds weren't that good so he didn't put it with the kit.
I'm trying to piece this kit together so by March I can have it installed and tuned...I plan on getting HP Tuners by February. If I have to buy all the pieces for the manifold then I will but I thought I'd come here and see if anybody had any connections or new any places that make good manifolds.
no more cavy...now 240 =]
I see a cool-air intake
It's got a NOS-fogger system and a T-4 turbo
I see an A.I.C. controller
It has direct port nitrous injection
Yeah, a stand-alone fuel management system
...Not a bad way to spend $10,000
id go with a ebay special....or there are even ebay cast manis now for the 2.2...
I can get you a log made for a much more reasonable price.
Blew it up, build numbers coming soon
what vid is that?

The ebay log is a T3, look for a nissan t3 to t25/t28 adapter on there as well. I'll be doing the same....eventually...

I have someone that is willing to make a brand new manifold for about $320, its from Vulcan Turbo. I got an email from them saying even tho they build mani's for LD9's and Eco's they were willing to custom build one for my 2200 for the same price as the other manifolds.

Equal length? If so, go for it!

not quiet, just basically duplicating the cheaper mild steel manifolds and making it out of stainless steel, and with the turbo flange he requested. We actually havent had any requests for equal length manifolds for any of the GM platforms!
Shoot me an email if the ebay-special manifold isn't your cup of tea. I can build you a log or tubular, depending on your needs. I have a tubular for sale right now but a member has already voiced interest in it.

hmm agent omega would you mind getting an estimate for me as well for a 2.2L OHV turbular manifold? i was just going to fab up one myself but im not sure now. let me know what you can do.
Brandon
i also know that cavattack/imphat0260 makes a nice log style manifold as well
i was thinking of fabricating a ram horn design. its going to be hard work but i think i can pull it off. if not then id like to try a turbular log style design. i just want something thats going to flow good.

I spoke to Ryan this weekend and for a very basic T304 SS log-style manifold, the price would be 250.00 + shipping. This manifold would drop the turbo down towards the ground and include the wastegate flange of your choice. Anything more complicated will--obviously--change the price.

We've made a jig for this manifold and are in the process of completing it as a whole. It'll be very similar to my personal manifold and almost identical to the J-Tuners, but made out of T304 SS and tig-welded inside and out. If you want to see our manifold quality, hit up our webpage and check out the image galleries.
wow this is going to be a very nice header. do you know when it might be ready? also i don't have a j-body but i do have an L-body 2.2L so im hoping it works for mine. i should get measurements.

Well, we're designing it on the 2200 motor and it's accessories. Although the 2.2L is similar, it may not be the same exact. If you're seriously wanting one at some point, let me know and we'll give the project a good look (pictures, measurements, etc)
ok thanks!!! it would be sweet. but i would think the exhaust flange would be the same. i will get pics
Brandon
Ive been looking into the 2.2L engine, and infact the 95-97 and 98-02 engines are different! the bolt pattern is the same but the exhaust outlets are different by about 1/2"

Yes I would also like to know when you guys are set up for this....even though I already have my J-tuners mani, I still want the one you guys are making. I was talking to Ryan not long ago, but my email is pretty flakey, and it takes SO long to get his emails. What is the latest development getting these out?
Vulcan Turbo, LLC:
You're absolutely correct. I mean, the two years COULD be interchangeable, but won't be totally efficient with a portion of the outlet being blocked by the flange.
John Benham:
I've been working on the manifold this week; finalizing the flange and mocking up the primaries. We built a jig out of our spare 2200 motor so we can reproduce this thing easily and I think it's going to turn out very, very nicely. I'll be working on it more tonite and Saturday and hope to have a huge chunk (if not most of it) done by then. You're definitely on our list to get the first one, John
Looking forward to it. I just got my new engine jammed in there, but I haven't got the manifold/turbo on there yet....maybe if I drag my feet enough I wont have to bother with the J-tuners one, and can go directly to yours.
I always thought that the 2.2L & 2200 exhaust ports were the same.....who knew...I would agree that restricting a passage isnt worth it....

wow i didnt know that! thanks for the info. that blows now i will have to measure LOL
Yes, the 2200 ports are smaller, but I believe the CavConn/JTuners manifold used primaries large enough for the 2.2L.
What is the ID on the new RDFabs manifold?
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster

Well that depends on when your Cav. Connection/Jtuners mani was made....I have an early one, that has much larger primaries....which is the one RDFabs was looking at to mold thier own. I also have one that was made at the tail end of the company, that had much smaller primaries, and much thinner metal on everything from the tubing wall thickness to the flange thickness. There is about a 5 lb difference between the 2....
The earlier ones had MUCH better construction & materials, hopefully that got translated in the RDFabs one, I am pretty sure that it did....
