Well this winter im boosting my car. So far im waiting for a money order to arrive to the guy 1 state away. its been a week and still havnt arrived, but once it does so far the parts i have will be: a manifold, turbonetics wastegate, msd inline pump, intercooler, 42.5# injectors.
What is recommended for a BOV? Also what is recommended for fuel management? ill be using HPT to tune it but what should i use to manage the fuel? I have the turbo all picked out but will probably be the last piece of the puzzle. and i only plan to run 9 psi max.
umm
HPT is the fuel management lol. just get some bigger injectors.
a BOV is a BOV for the most part...get one you like the sound of. 1G dsm is popular, I prefer the SSQV myself
vince...I told you, let me know what questions you got lol. You're making this harder then it really is
Yeah if you stay within the stock rev limiter then HPT should be fine, but if your looking for a lil more assistance you can do what Curt is doing w/ the FMU/HPT tune. As far as BOV are concern, what DTP said is pretty much how it goes, If you look around on ebay the Blitz SS BOV's go for pretty cheap. What are the spec's of the turbo you want to run? Sounds like you and I will have the same goals. Are you going to build the motor at all?
not planning to build the motor as of now. here is the turbo im getting...
T3/T4E, 57 Trim, Stage III, .63 A/R
and ill keep looking on the fmu and bov. money order finally arrived today so box should be on my way monday.
I love my TiAL BOV. Be careful with the Ebay cheapies. Most are cheap knock offs that are not of very good quality.
icic, well if your looking to save money, and have sometime, it is really easily to find good deals on slightly used parts on ebay...
i keep hearing good things about the tial BOV. Multiple people have recommended them to me. and im leaning along the lines of an fmu. for gauges im looking into the autometer phantom II series, full sweep electric boost, and autometer wideband gauge,
yeah ive yet to determine which wideband im going to use, and for gauges im going to be using the prosport amber/white....they match my sunfire cluster quite nicely. if you want to check them out, www.prosportgauges.com is the site.
I plan to run the inovate wideband but with the autometer gauge.
I have the HKS SSQV - I love it, and its a VERY good BOV - but as long as you go with a quality one, it really goes down to what sound you like.
I have an inovate LC-1 wideband - its worked fine, had to replace the sensor 1x but it was self inflicted. (dont clean the sensor with break cleaner, lol).
As far as fuel management - HPT will work fine, you just have to play with it and work around the Aplha-N setup. As long as you upgrade you upgrade your injectors. I still need to get an AFPR but thats recommended as well.
Turbo looks like a decent choice, i just glanced at it and i didnt see a compressor side a/r mentioned - id want to know that before purchase. I love my T3/TO4B hybrid. Its 70a/r on the compressor but 48 a/r on the turbine. So it spools up pretty good and has awesome top end. I can usually get it to spool around 2.8k rpms and once it hits -5 vac, at WOT it will instant spool to 9. So im sure you will be happy with the hybrid style turbo. Granted I have a different engine and the head is completely built but im sure you will have fun with it. Dont go with too big an a/r on both sides tho unless you don't mind it having a bit of lag. But on the same note, if your not getting any lag its time to upgrade lol.
Are you planning on building your engine at all? or just want a lil more outa the stock motor?
buy the greddy knockoff from ebay, if it fails buy the actual greddy diaphram..
------------------------------------------------------------
TurboXS RFL BOV is what I like it isn't as high pitched as the HKS SSQV. Plus they can be hand for extremely cheap.
Like its been said Innovative is the way to go. I ran an FMU and HPT but I was too lazy to take the FMU off so that's why it stayed its a good way to aid in limping the car to go get it tuned.
As of now, not planning to build the motor, well not until it grenades im sure.
i plan to run the innovate wideband and the autometer gauge with it i think.
for a bov, not doing the ssqv because i hear its more for a higher psi. im thinking a tial or something along the lines.
the turbine housing a/r will be a .63, turbo should be about perfect for what im going for. idk if im even going to run 9 psi, might be 5 or 7 for a bit.
im leaning toward an FMU and HPT.
injectors should be here wed. they are 42.5#ers, should be fine as well.

How about not.
And vince you do know Autometer makes widebands
yea knock-offs are obviously not a good idea. yes -> alot of people have used cheap parts and not had any problems but then alot of people have used cheap parts and regretted it. I forget who it was on here but he bought a knock-off wastegate and it failed and he just blew his motor. saw the thread within the last few days.... NOT a good idea.
The HKS is a very versatile BOV, one of the best on the market. I believe its one of the few that can be used on any application, thats one reason why its so good. The Tial is also a good choice.
The turbine a/r is a good size, thats why i was wondering what the compressor a/r was as well.
As long as your tune is good and your not constantly beating the piss out of it, your engine prolly wont grenade at that psi
Good luck with it, its a lot of fun

yeah i know they do but i hear good things about the innovate.
as for the bov, im not sure what to do ive still got a bit of time to decide what is going on there for parts. got the car all put away sunday for the winter so i can get started when i want to.
yeah i only have one in there now anyway. you on msn right now? got a few ? for ya
