Regret SuperCharger Install?
Tuesday, July 31, 2007 4:02 PM
I dont regret it power wise. Car goes like snot now when that puppy spins up. I love it, love it, love it.

My only complaint is............. it looks like if you EVER (knocks on wood) have to change the altenator or starter you have to pull off the S/C. Or can you take off the starter from under the car? Ive never had to change it. And I think one of the altenator bolts is hidden under the S/C and you also have to pull off the little pulley/bracket that came with the kit to get at the lower altenator bolts as far as I can remember.

My 2 bits,

i've had to pull off the s/c before to replace the tensioner. it honestly wasn't that bad, because i had already done the install once

Well I did the install myself so I know how it comes apart and goes together but I was just complaining that is all.

Only part I dont like about pulling it off is you have pull the injectors and fuel rail right to get the S/C off to get at the bolts.

Anyone else?

Hahahaha, o how sweet the engineers of the 2.4L LD9 are to the consumers. (Claps hands) This list of retarded engineering could go on forever.

...

i bet you could have done better? how about you go to MIT and work for GM.

the first Quad-4's wernt to bad to change the watter pump, but the LD9 shouldnt take over 4 hours to do if you know what your doing.

as for the starter... is your's bad?! your should want to take if off, Eaton\Mangnason recomends changing the oil it the blower every 30K.

the intake would have to come off anyways to make it easer, hell my intake on the GTZ is off right now, just all my intake valves are open.

Ill have to look through the instructions for the kit install. Does it state in there to change it every 30,000km? or Miles? Can you do it without taking it off?

Due to where the fill plug is located, gravity says you cannot fill it in the car

Dont really know right now. Havent been really paying attention to it b/c Im to busy haveing fun with the kit. I'm sure ill pay attention to it later on though. I dont see it dropping to much as it's mostly city miles. Ill track highway miles in the future as well.

Only thing I knoticed is that when you have your foot into it really hard (like on highway or freeway) it runs a bit rich and smells like rotten eggs a little. i guess that could be the cat doing that. Either then that, its all good. Kit runs smooth and reliable. Could be just the GM programming or my cat is going. I dont know.

Should I contact the dealer about it? I think those things are covered for like 7 years or something. If I can get it replaced I will for free to resolve that issue.

Ya but the dealer would probably not replace it b/c it doesnt smell like eggs all the time. Even before I got the S/C installed it would do it the odd time. What do you think?

Well I talked to the dealer. It's 8 years or 130,000km for replacement, im at 132,XXXKM. But I'm not sure if it is the cat. I think that when I stomp on it really hard it's just running to rich. Maybe that is the way the GM reflash runs. a little rich when you put your foot into it.

I called over to atlas muffler which the dealer deals with for the cat replacements and he said it sounds to be just running a little rich when putting my foot into it.

He said I could stop by and he could check the temperature that the cat is putting out. He said something like the temp is supposed to be hotter on the backside of the cat then in the exhaust side. Something that that to check if it's functioning properly. The guy was really nice and seemed to know what he was talking about b/c that is really the only time it happens.

Is it safe for the motor to run that rich during full throddle?

I haven't really paid much attention to gas mileage. That went south when I put 4.11's in the tranny

I don't smell anything with my cat on, but it is only 2 years old with 7k on it

I disagree with that statement. The rotten egg smell is from sulfer content in the gas. My car has smelled like that every once in a while since i bought it with 24,000 miles on it. I still have a completly stock exhaust right down to the factory mufler. I put down 214whp. I do not think my cat is bad.

i said that cause when my old car smelt like eggs, my cat was in fact garbage but i do stand corrected.
