OK so my cavalier will FINALLY be in my hands in a month from next week. Over the course of the winter, I want to save up and be able to afford a small setup to install into my 2.2 Ecotec.
I do not know a thing about boost but I'm hoping this will teach me! I'm only looking to install a very small setup. What are the things I should and shouldn't get? Meaning, what parts are reputable? What parts are there TO a turbo setup? This is my DD so I'll need to be able to drive it all the time, how long should an install take?
Any help and advice would be really appreciated, and when it comes time to install it, I'll be looking for help from you more experienced guys! Thanks!

I was just reading around and I read that Superchargers willl be much more reliable than Turbochargers. Since I only want a small amount of boost and need the car to last....forever, should I go with the Supercharger??

What was your goal boost wise? You say not much, 5psi? Either way will work, the supercharger isn't as easy to up the boost on, which you will want to do.
If supercharged is what you want to do the GM kit is nice.
If turbo is what you want, Hahn's stuff is pretty nice as well.
I'm only looking for 5 to 10 psi. reliability is a HUGE factor seeing how this will be my one and only car.

The GM supercharger is probably more suited to what you want. But be prepared to spend about 3k for it. If you want to do turbo, you've got LOTS of reading ahead of you.

Sounds like you would be better with the gm charger.
Are superchargers really more reliable than turbochargers??

There is no reason a proper turbo or supercharger system shouldn't last 100,000 miles.

The GM s/c is probably the better bet for you. Both are reliable but if your not looking to build huge power just bolt on the GM kit and call it a day....
