I'm trying to raise my boost pressure just a little bit with my wastegate. I don't have any other kind of boost controller. I tried it yesterday; I turned the rod connecting the wastegate to the turbo. I
think my boost pressure fell a little it. So today, I turned the hook part that sit on the threads near the turbo. I turned it 4-5 times and only gained a psi of boost. I'm running out of threads on the rod.
Can that rod with the threads on it affect the boost pressure in any way? I know the hook part can at the end of the rod, but I'm asking about the rod itself.
Thanks.
The rod is mainly used for fine tuning of a factory setup. you can mess with it some, but it wont give you a lot of boost gain. Id look into a boost controller.
where the hell have i been. when did you swap out your charger for a turbo setup? and do you like it better than the blower?

I'm gonna say he does because I just did the same thing and don't regret it. I was never really happy with the SC over the turbo I had the first time.
Also I'm not sure about the rod itself, but if you turn the "hook" clockwise it will increase boost. Probably about 1/2 psi per complete turn. You could hook a heavy spring up to the flapper to get more boost or shim where the WG bolts to the turbo using washers. www.joepmbc.com has inexpensive but good manual boost controllers, hell you can use an adjustable air valve from a fish tank store if you wanted. Those are like 5-6 bucks.
Anything you can do to make it more difficult for the WG to open the more boost you will make. You might be able to gain another 1-2psi if you cap the vacuum port on the turbo and pull the WG signal off of the manifold.
Just buy a boost controller or a different spring.

You're all right! I love having the turbo over the supercharger. Better gas mileage, more power, the car drives much easier too!
Definately a good upgrade!
I have a manual boost controller on the car now, I just haven't had the time to really play with it.
