I'm getting ready to step it up and start a turbo build but im feeling like a total noob because i have no clue where to start. I've seen so many different kinds of builds on the ohv and it looks like a lot is requreied to make this work. plus how much in total do y'all think would be spent to complete this? please help

I would start with a top feed conversion, and either a standalone, OR a 97 computer swap (is that possible?)

I don't know, personally I think a standalone is easier to install. (because I've done it)

How much you want to spend completely depends on how fast you want to go (or how much power you want to make)

So in order to decide how much should be spent, you have to at least come up with some goals. Daily Driver, or Track Queen?

You should probably read the FAQs in this forum, as well as the tuning forum. I really think you are in WAY over your head right now. I read for years before even considering boost, and I still wasn't ready.

I think bolt-ons are a waste of money

boosting any non turbo car is no game.
money doesn't mean much when you don't have the know how.

check out the FAQs on this page, they help a lot. also, goto howstuffworks.com and look up turbochargers there it has a nice explanation with graphics on how turbos work, etc.

it may sound harsh, but you need the knowledge of how turbo systems work if you ever plan on keeping your car on the road for more than a week. a tiny problem that I could solve in 3 seconds could keep you off the road for 3 months because you don't know what to look for, you know?

read up, spend later.
