HRC Stage 2.

I've gone 12.53 with just drag radials.
Adam has gone 11.44 with a 20G and slicks, and a VERY MINORLY built motor (pistons and rods).
Tons of others are in the 13s easily.

I used to race cars, now I race myself.

The gm S/C kit is about $2500. The hrc setup is $3500. Both setups can get you 14's or 13's.

I'm sure you can do a lot with that extra $1000.

But for all out horsepower, a turbo is what to get.

You can't beat the power and reliablity of the HRC Stage II 16g kit. Don't get me wrong the GM charger is a nice set-up. I just think for the extra $1000 for the turbo is worth it. The HRC kit makes more power than the GM charger out-of-the-box . To get you to the same level as HRC's turbo, you are going to have just as much, if not more, money into it. A smaller pulley, injectors and a water cooler will run you in the $1000 mark.

I've been running the HRC Stage II 16g kit @ 8psi for over a month now. I LOVE IT !!! The car is getting 26.4 mpg on 93 octane. I drive it every day to work. The car runs and drives like I never did anything to it. Until you put your foot in it!!!

Just make sure you use an '03 pcm. It' ll keep your air fuel ratio at a happy level.

actually it was pretty much a completely build motor minus sleeves and eagle crank. it has a full ferrea valvetrain as well.

does your car still have a warrenty? and it depends on your power goals. if just want a lil extra power to be in srt4 range then the gm charger will be fine and u will still ahve a warrenty.

if you want to make alot of power, then the hahn kit hands down.

i ran a 12.5@116 spinning horridly on MT drag radials. 60 fts average where 2.4s.... its crazy to drive from a roll.

if u have the extra cash, and arent worried about a warrenty, then go for the hahn kit anyway, but your gonna get addicted fast. boost controller, aftermarket internals, etc. lol it never ends.

As far as mildly built, the motor in our Sunfire was mild. We had lower end Eagle rods and JE Pistons and Ferrea Valve Springs. Once you hit 22 PSI, the valves begin to float so the upgrade valve springs were a must, no getting around it. There are much lower end valve springs that will do just fine. These Ecotecs can get insane with new cranks, valves, valve springs, cam sprockets, cams, sleeves, bigger head studs, balance shaft removal, ported heads and so on. So I would say we went as mild as possible. The head wasn't even ported.

Using an FMU is not a bad way to go. The only real other way for these cars is HPTuners and that is very expensive and requires some skill. Our kits come out of the box ready to install and run. Every car is a little different, especially in other aftermarket upgrades, so some fine tuning may be required. The turbosystem will allow for more boost and overall power down the road if you chose to go that route too.

I had the HRC stage 2 and friggin loved it, but I moved back to Cali and wanted something CARB legal. Sold the Turbo and went with the SC and always regretted it. I can't say in the 6-7 months I had the SC I was really ever happy with it. Content yes, but not happy. So I sold the SC and I'm just waiting for my HRC kit to come in the mail. Thanks Adam .

Now the SC is awesome for someone that wants to be around 200whp without much tinkering or anything else. It was way more fun than NA, but just doesn't have the kick the tq with a turbo does. You can get the SC into higher numbers but by time you buy the parts necessary to run the heat exchanger, afpr, and smaller pulleys you're right in the neighborhood of what a HRC S2 costs.

If you guys ran that 11.4 with stock topend other than springs then i wonder what my car will be capable of with the compcams stage 3 grinds and the built bottom end, with the garret t3/t4oe 60 trim .83a/r turbo pumpin through it....

Lets not steal this guys thread. He wants to know whether or not to get a Hahn Stg 2 or the GM Supercharger. I just clarified on the upgrades on my motor because it was important to note how un-radical it was. Back to SilvaCavy02's questions!
