GM sells a kit with the same M62 supercharger...no need to really do the swap.
I belive the first one to take the S/C off a 2.0 and put it on a 2.2 was "airtonics' (john) he could possible answer your questions...

That is true but he did the swap before the kit was available.

yeah but im sure if you find a SS/SC in the junk yard you can have the IM/SS/IC then buy the odds and ends of the kit and it be cheaper then from GM.

I guess...but the keyword is "if".
Me personally, I'd rather buy new. I know plenty of SS/SC owners who put way too small of pullies on those superchargers as soon as they get them.
That's just me I guess.

Your name on here reflects very well with regard to your comments....
Jon's name on here is Airtonics not Airtronics.
If you manage to find a 2.0L s/c engine, it will probably be around $1000-$1200 which is about a third of the price of a GM kit. How do I know this? I'm the one who found Jon's setup.
I will NEVER change my sig. HTML 4 EVA!!

And what did I say what was incorrect? I just said my opinion that I would rather buy the kit.
The kit is ridiculous though. The normal price for that kit through GM is like $3100. On my employee discount the kit is still around $2200. Thats a LOT of money for just a 50hp gain.

Damn, that is a difference.
But it's more than a 50 HP Gain (atleast wheel wise). I've known people do dyno (same pulley that comes with the kit) and pull off dynos of 220s-230s.
Also, I have a friend who ran a 13.5 1/4 mile time and all he has done is a filter and NGK plugs.
Not saying everyone who gets the kit will have the same #s but it's a good roundabout to expect.
having done the cobalt stuff , well trying to do the cobalt stuff
save yourself a head ache and just get the kit , some of the necessary parts are only available in the kit , or you have to have them custom made
the 2.0 head uses 8mm threads , the 2.2 uses 6mm
the only nice thing about getting the cobalt stuff , was being able to get the needed parts for the intercooler set up , some hoses , the pump and pump bracket
The only "kit" part you can't get is the TB adapter, and that isn't all that hard to fabricate....
the studs you cant get either
and there was some other parts as well
You can get the studs at some of the "bolt company's" but if not use bolts instead. The radiator hose for the upper is a pain to find, but there are alternatives for that as well (think like a hot rodder and go polished). You will need to rework the main vac line to the booster, and a couple of the emissions lines will not be perfect, but they will work.

220/230?? For some odd reason I doubt that. The supercharger kit puts it up to Cobalt SS range, which is 205hp. The Cobalt SS itself dynos at like 210, but the Cobalt has different exhaust, suspension, etc which makes it be able to support the power better. I wouldn't think slapping a supercharger on a Cav would give the same instant results. i was always told it was about a 50hp gain. However, if you've seen better from that, it makes the price seem more worth it. 50hp isn't worth over $2000 to me, lol. Gotta start saving in that case, lol

I mean, you can believe what you want but I know what he's producing. He's actually my best friend so I talk to him very frequently and have been in his car plenty of times. Has no reason to lie plus he did post up his dyno sheet on the JBO as well.
You wouldn't think this but this is the reality of the situation. Also think about the actual difference between the L61 and the LSJ.
The Redline and SS/SC Cobalt are under rated by GM. I forget what magazine did the dyno tests, but they were producing more like 230-240 hp at the crank, not 205.

you forget the 2.2 has a higher compression and a .2 more liters than the cobalt so naturally it is going to make more power. and two I know alot of j bodie guys that dyno'd some decent #s. a buddy of mine has a completely bone stock cav except for the supercharger and he dyno'd about 215 220 to the wheels.
Thats awesome stuff then. Now the price for the supercharger kit is starting to make some sense, lol. In actual, its almost a 95hp gain. Kickass!
Mr.MisInformation, I wasn't calling you a liar by any means. I just never knew that the supercharger gains were that under rated.
I was in my buddy's Cobalt SS, and it didn't feel like 205hp at all. Now he has his stage 2 kit on it and the damn thing is a rocket. I wonder why they under rated them so much??
It's all good Exodus. It's worth the money indeed

You are correct, there are some guys that put down almost 220hp stock, without even an airbox mod. This takes into account the dyno they are on, altitude, etc, but still, numbers are numbers.
all the misc bolts and studs and what not, sensors. its just easier and less of a head ache.
