Would porting a supercharger yield more cfm being shoved into the motor, or would it merely make it easier causing cooler air temps?
I Dunno, wouldn't that reduce the efficiency of the Compressor by increasing the volume inside? Just like changing the compressor housing sides on the turbo. I don't think a truly legit cmpany will port a blower. change the whole unit to change boost or buy a different pulley for Mech. supercharger. Lower combustion temps with alcohol and increase density of ambient air at the same time.Yes that means an intercooler. I bet the performance of more engines have been reduced, by incorrectly porting intake and exhaust porting by so called "porting Experts." than you can imagine. And I bet a lot of blowers have been ruined too. Air flows in a port and follows fixed thermodynamic laws. You cannot port without experience on a flowbench without ruining a few Test Heads. Some mild bowl porting may help the flow a little. Remember though that your boosting the motor and air entering the combustion chamber is now compressed and is no longer entering at atmospheric pressure, so how much bigger do you"really" need to make those Ports Buddy?
"Are you sure your A/F ratio is correct? That hole in your Block custom?"
not sure what "oldschool78" is talking about to be honest. There are several reputable charger places that port chargers all day long and well thats pretty much all they do...........................so that being said YES it increases the CFM ability of the supercharger and does in fact lean your A/F mixture due to this fairly obvious result of opening the charger up which is easily compensated for by increasing fuel pressure by less than 5lbs or so. Temps are best compensated for by intercooling but are significantly reduced through the use of meth/water injection. (this is all based on the m62) Your boost psi will actually DROP from the porting, again not too sure where "oldschool" was going with the; "change the whole unit to change boost or buy a different pulley for Mech. supercharger" comment. If you wanna INCREASE your boost this can only be accomplished by putting on a smaller pulley OR messing with cam degree I.E. aftermarket or custom cam lobe specs. The only other way would be to change rotors but thats not an option so forget it. its worth the porting thats the bottom line.........................................
