3" downpipe on 2200 motors

I was just curious if anyone has a 3" downpipe, everyone seems to be using 2.5" which in my opinion is wayyyy to restrictive as you want zero backpressure in the turbo exhaust. I have a 3" from a guy that makes and sells them on turboford, short radius 90* down bend, 5 bolt flange pattern that might make a great choice, i'm just not sure if you could really make the 3" fit all that well.

If you wanted to, yes, it would benefit you. I don't know if you'll be able to have a 3" downpipe but if you want to do the rest of the exhaust system that size, that's up to you.

adler ran a 3" downpipe, it can be done.

2.5" restrictive? lol

how much HP do you plan on making exactly? How big is your turbo?

I made a 2.5" m/b d/p to the firewall, then the rest is 3" to a magnaflow straight thru. Works fine, sounds mean.

the downpipe is really the most important part of the exhaust setup. The bigger the downpipe the better spool up you will have and you will definitely notice a gain in power versus a 2.5" downpipe. On my 2.3 ford motor it was a night and day difference between the 2.5 and 3".

I was just curious if anyone had done it as I know these cars are quite compact when trying to add extras

As for how much HP, I don't know If I will actually do a build up for the cavy but if I were to, i'd go for 350whp or bust
