Turbo 2000 cavalier setup

I'm looking to do a 2.0, 2.2 or 2.4 liter ecotec swap into my 2000 cavalier. The plan is to then turbo charge the ecotec. I have acces to all three engines and the money and im really wondering what would be my best choice.(easiest/cheapest/most potential power). Or should I change the internals on my current 2.4 liter non-ecotec. Also what transmission options do i have. Any input would be great.

2000 cavalier 15,000 km(on the engine) 2.4 liter

Thanks

Ok so i have determined that if i do a swap, the L61 swap is the only way to go.

So now my question is do I do a rebuild with forged internals with my current LD9 or do i swap in a built up L61. Again i have acces to a free L61 block. Would the numbers be comparable?

What numbers do you want to put out? <300hp just build the 2.4. Anything over 300hp swap in an L61 and build it. But thats just me.

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

The potential is greater in the Eco. I'd swap in a built L61, bolt a GT3071 to it and call it a day.

I was liking the numbers on the LD9 that was recently posted in the boost forum. 432 hp and 424 ft/lbs of torque(don't quote me on those numbers but they were close to that). Are those numbers hard to get, because if not i will just build up my current LD9 instead of doing the L61 swap.

Yeah but look at all the work that was done to his ld9. I agree that he has great numbers and i would love to be driving a 400+ hp cavy, but with the 2.2 eco (which is a very easy swap) you could build to 1000hp, and there is an eco build guide at the top of the performance forum that tells you exactly how to do it. just my opinion though .

I say stick with your 2.4 dude. for the cost of swapping you could have your internals. its not like your stuck with a poopy ohv or something. lol

Ecotec FTW!

I guess it all comes down to money, the ecotec would be more expensive but more powerfull in the long run but the LD9 would give me some good power and possible not empty the wallet. If i do the L61 swap what tranny do i use, is it the same getrag 5 speed as what i currently have?

it is the same getrag trans, but the bellhousing will not bolt up to your engine, and is not easily swappable. you would have to swap the trans as well.
