Well which block do you have a Quad 4 (2.3L) or a Twin Cam (2.4L)
A quad 4 crank in a LD9 block will actually destroke the engine to about 132 cubic inches (2.162 L)
While a LD9 in a Quad 4 motor will stroke the engine to 152.5 cubic inches (2.499 L)
Naturally using a Quad 4 crank on a Quad 4 block, or a LD9 crank on a LD9 block produces no change in engine displacement.
Ok Thanks man. thats what i was lookin for ok. i have both 2.3L and 2.4 i have tons of these motors and i spun a rod in my old LD9 and so i went out and got a motor out of a 02 Grand am and i swaped it in there. now i want to rebuilt and boost the motor that cam out of it. thanks for the info

did anybody think they don't exactly just drop in?

Yeah i thought the 2.4 had larger journals than the 2.3. You would have to machine the caps way down and re drill the mains to make it fit. If theres enough metal there to do so.

2.3 crank won't work in a 2.4L block..
you can get a 2.4L crank into a 2.3L block however, with some precision machining. There are a few threads that discuss this option. the STROKER!

Do stock 2.3 HO's come with a forged steel crank or are they cast like the 2.4,I know GM sold forged 2.3 cranks over the counter but did they come stock in any of the engines?
How much hp/tq can a cast 2.4 crank take if it's deburred, knife edged, shot peened and cryo or heat treated?
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
why, just to say its forged, i never heard any bad things about the stock cranks,,, the gears breaking on them yes, but not a crank.

the 2.4 crank... I'm pushing well over 400hp and I never broke a crank. I'll let you know when I do.

2.3L engine had less stroke and more bore
2.4L engine has more stroke and less bore
spyhunter said that the 2.4L crank would fit in 2.3L block thus creating the 2.5L (stroker).
no reason to get into minor details, but what is the major reason the 2.3L crank wont fit in the 2.4L block?
Journal diameters are different.

it will fit with some major machining to either the block or the crank. There's a huge discussion on quad4forums.com about it. Just go look around there for it, and you'll see what the exact details are.
